Learn to tie flies
Mosquitoes, nymphs and midges will be hatching all winter at Bass Pro Shops in Council Bluffs.
Cody Ingle, fly-tying authority at Bass Pro's fly shop, will teach a six-week course Wednesdays beginning Jan. 14 and ending Feb. 18. The class will meet from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Anglers will learn a new type of fly, learn about materials, tools and techniques to tie the fly, watch Ingle's step-by-step technique, then tie flies to take home. By the end of the classes, anglers will have a fly box with 14 to 16 flies.
There is a $25 fee to cover materials. Registration is limited to 10 people. At the end of the period, participants will receive a certificate of completion and a gift card.
Register by contacting Chris Ulane, fishing manager, at 712-325-6023, or via e-mail at cjulane@basspro.com.
The first class includes instruction on hook anatomy, thread types, sizing and material selection to tie a San Juan Worm and a Wooly Bugger.
