How was the weekend's shed hunt?

A buddy and I picked up six on Saturday. Spotted 2 off the road. 1 matched 8pnt and then a couple other smaller ones. Nothing big though.

One question for you guys out there. Can one take the rack of a dead buck found out in the woods? Thought about it and wanted to get a European mount of the rack. Found dead on a farm we bow hunt but not sure if we could take it or not. Will go back for it if it is not illegal. WIsconsin it is illeagal, not sure of Iowa though. Buck was a reall good basic 10, with good mass about 18" inside. Figure he would go about 150's. Heres the kicker on it, he Had a KICKER. Off the G2 there was about an 8" drop tine. Will get picture of it to post though.

I've heard heard of people contacting a DNR officer and asking if they could take it.
Mabye you should try that.

You need to call your local CO and he will determine cause of death. if he doesn't think that it was poached he will probably let you take it.

Will do, it is a nice animal. Would have loved seeing him this year. I hope that no one poached it. We don't need that up there. Only reason I think that it wasn't poached is that the buck laided not more than 100 yards off the road at the edge of a cut corn field.

Oletom i see your from Wis. What I told you was an Iowa law, but i imagine they are pretty similar. Hope it works out.

We were in Iowa Looking for sheds when we came across this buck. I will look into it and get a picture of it to post here.
