Had a good two days last weekend. It looks like most of the deer have finally dropped here. Was out for a while saturday and found 2. One was a good size but had a damaged main beam so it could have been bigger. I found 10 on Suday with three matched sets. Nothing was huge but they were good average sheds. Here are some photos of the matched sets. If you would like to see some photos of where they were found and a photo of the big damaged shed you can click on my webpage in my profile.

The snow should be disappearing pretty good by next week so they will be easier to find, but the deer are not as concentrated as they have been other years so it is going to be tougher this year. There have already been some other guys out as well. One of the areas I go to has already been hit by someone else. I went there on Saturday and there was quad tracks and foot tracks all over. I had seen over twenty bucks there this winter but I only found three small sheds there. I also saw some hutterites out looking more towards Beechy. The kids get out and pick them up and sell them for extra money. In the river hills I usually walk, especially this time of the year when it is getting muddy. Landowners don't like it much when guys leave ruts and tear up the grass with quads. I haven't spent much time over by beaver flats since I don't know the area too well but I know that there are tons of deer in that zone. There was an unharvested pea field just north of Stewart Valley that had close to a hundred deer in it. There used to be nobody looking around here but the last few years there are getting to be more and more. There were guys here from Manitoba last year looking. I know that Bill and Jay Cates and Kyle Turner were out looking last year as well. I know Keith McCrie and his kid do some looking on their land and in Mckechney's( I doubt they have been out yet this year though). I did some coyote hunting in Pederson's this year and saw some deer but they were alot more spread out than usual. I saw alot of deer in Sorenson's this year(Prime's) over by Lowe's but haven't been there this spring. I do a lot of my looking in the Matador and Knight's and some on our lease over by Rempel's ranch on the way to Beechy. There are lots of bucks out there and some big ones it just seems they are more spread out this year due to the very easy winter up until march.

Cam, where do you find the bulk of your sheds down home? Do you find many of them in feeding areas or are alot of them picked up along the main trails in the coulees and in bedding areas? I picked up some last April while coyote hunting down by McKrie's in Darius Hodgins' place and they were all in the coulees along the trails. I'd like to get down and find some big Mulie sheds as the always look mighty impressive to me but I'm also impatiently waitng for the thaw up here because I am fairly certain there are an awful lot more whitetail sheds hiding in the snow and in the trees near my place. I'm quickly realizing the market for big whitetail sheds even though it hurts a bit parting with my treasures but I just bought a new acreage in the heart of big buck country up here and I need some fast cash to help pay the bills. Good luck with your shed hunting Cam, keep posting those awesome pics. I'll send some pics down for you right away to add to your whitetail photo gallery.

I seem to find most of mine in the coulees but near the top in the creeping cedar. You can really see right now where they have been feeding on the cedar, the hillsides where there is alot of it are just torn up with tracks. I just got back now from a short walk in a coulee north of Stewart Valley. I was only out for about an hour and found 4 more. Two were a medium sized matched set with one antler broken up pretty good. One was a great shed, it is really heavy with just over 6" bases. I haven't scored it yet but will right away. I will post some photos of it later tonight.

This weekend me and my brother went out and found nine sheds all together. He found two matched sets. I found three sheds. actually only two but I found a huge antler that was broke off and now only has three points. What is left of the main beam is almost 22" long. I will try to post a picture of the matched sets but am not sure how to.

Cam, those sheds look real good. Is finding the sheds getting a bit easier at home because I'd like to come home for a few days at Easter and do some hiking in the Beaver Flat area and north of the river down by Marty Scneider's and the old McKeckney place. I'm sure you know of those areas. Are you simply walking or are you using a quad. I'm simply a walker and I was wondering if my time would be better spent up here searching for more whitetail sheds or some good Mulies like you're finding.
