View Full Version : where are all you shed hunters from ?
i live in a small town called dunkerton, its about a 15 minute drive from waterloo, where are all you from?
I live in North Dakota near Devils Lake. As soon as Chris posts some pictures of the big sheds he finds, I might be moving to Iowa. http://www.iowawhitetail.com/ubb/images/icons/wink.gif From what I've seen from the other guy's pictures from Iowa, it's got to be a great place to hunt and shed hunt. I envy you guys!! LOL

Chris is an outstanding shed hunter. However shit happens. A mutual friend of ours is driving to work last week and sees something out the window. Later retracement of the area produces a 4 point 77+ huge shed.
They are everywhere.Right yeah

I think I finally have the photo posting down. I brought the Digital camera home this weekend. So next week I'll post some photos. I found my 65th last night. I have photos of a 130-135 inch 8pt still packing both sides. I'm from west central Iowa. My season is over or so my doctor tells me. I have ligament and tendon damage in my right foot. I'm putting off the surgery as long as I can. Good luck to the rest of you. Another thing that 77 inch shed spotted from the road by a friend has a 28+ main beam. He also found 2 other sheds around that area. I've yet to see it, but when I do I'll get photos and post them.

Sorry to here about your injury. Hope they get it fixed up right for you. I messed up my foot this winter and tromping for sheds hasn't helped it any. Another month and shedding will be over for the most part and then I will deal with it. 65 sheds isn't too bad for this mild winter and I know you put alot of hours in. Looking forward to seeing your pictures. Take care.

I live & hunt in Sioux City, NW Iowa.
Chris, sorry to hear about your foot. Sore feet are part of shed hunting but you take the prize. Hope all goes well!

Will do, I will grab the brother-in-laws camera tonight and get a photo of it. Also that dead buck we found a couple weeks ago, we were able to take it. My buddy is getting a European mount of it and I will get a pic. of it when done to post too.

Hey Bucky, where do you hunt Southwest Iowa? I live close to Harlan and hunt mostly near the Hancock-Avoca area. My father shot an 18 point non-typical this year near Crescent.

Buckhunter - Here you go, since finding this one here there are a couple others off this state land. The first three are of the 64 1/8" shed and the last photo is of a matched set and a single off this land.

You have to pardon my brother-in-laws pissed off look, I would be mad too if I couldn't any sheds bigger than that my first time out this year! What a shame...I bet I have put on 40 miles or better and I take him with me for the first time and tell him to go over there and find them sheds that of course I new they were there, if you know what I mean.
Have a good one.

There were about 4 feet apart on a cedar hill side. I can't remember exactly but I think they were 72 5/8" and 79 6/8"!
