Antler traps are illegal in Illinois

Just ran across an article with the above title in the June 2002 issue of Outdoor Illinois. I wonder if that is the case in Iowa and other states.

"A recent review of state law and regulations by the DNR confirms that antler traps are an illegal manner of taking deer in Illinios and are prohibited for use or possession in the state..."

Not sure if you understand what this article and law mean. This law applies to folks who trap deer for ther psole purpose of killing them. This practice was used and still may be used in africa. Collecting shed antlers is legal by use of safe tested techniques. The Shed Hunter Company, old name antler trap, offers safe and legal feeders that get sheds. Lots of shed hunters use homemade devices. These also are legal, owever if you ever trap a whole deer, you'll pay for it.
