We use to hunt Nebraska ( Bow ) around the 15th of September, opening weekend. I enjoyed it, alot of it depends on your early season scouting.

As far as Iowa goes I am ok with 10/1 as opening day.

I like Iowa's setup to reserve it for Youth season. October is soon enough for me.

I think 10-1 is just right. Wouldn't mess with present format..

October is fine by me, to many bugs still in september. Flies,ticks,ect.. All bothering you while your trying to sit still.

I agree, I'm just happy that bowhunters are able to hunt during the rut. I moved from Illinois where that wasn't possible. It sure is nice here.

I say let's leave it in October. It's usually a little extra warm even then, no need to go sooner. Also, I like being able to slip in the youth season before bow begins.

Yeah i'm pretty happy with the october opening because i normaly won't even hunt surious even until rut starts or even after that, mostly because of all the bugs, hot weather, and not really seeing much bucks that early either.
