After a career in law enforcement was cut short by multiple knee surgeries, I taught middle school/high school English and coached. I married my high school sweetheart in 1972, and amazingly she is still putting up with me after all these years. We have two sons and one daughter, each of whom has given us two beautiful grandchildren, three boys and three girls.

Family time is number one on my list of hobbies, followed by hunting and fishing. I've been a traditional archer for many years, but took my first buck with a compound bow this year when arthritis in my shoulders and hands flared up and pushed me to the dark side. I still love my recurve and will keep trying, but the wheel bow is better than not being in the woods or having only store bought meat in the freezer.

Five years ago my wife and I bought 36.5 acres of land near Bellevue, and two years ago we built a home there. We hope to spend most of our time there after I turn 65 in March. It is small, but I've taken three deer and a couple of turkeys, my sons have taken deer and turkeys, and my eldest granddaughter killed her first turkey with her bow there in 2016. A trout stream also meanders through our property, so it is my own little piece of heaven!
