Grew up in the area and practically lived at spirit lake on the north shore at a friends cabin during the summer. I still go back all the time for hunting and fishing. Deer hunting will take time to find land available. The fishing is great and the little lake called silver lake by the town...
I just recently started doing that. I have every tag or license from the last five years. I have four different states covered if you include fishing, bird, and deer. It is kind of neat to see all the licenses. My wife just looks at it and says "just look how much money you spend on your outdoor...
That second picture looks like an awesome deer. Could be a very nice shooter next year if he makes it and stays in the area. Looks like he has some gnarly bases.
My group had four tags and we still have four tags. One member shot a nice buck and we looked for three days for it but never found it. We all four passed on young bucks(all under 2 years old). We didn't shoot a die because we felt that there didn't seem to be enough does in the area to shoot...
Today was tough. Lots of does seen but passes on all. Saw a 1.5 fork buck but passed on him too. A member of the group shot a nice 4.5 10pt at about 8 am and we spent the rest of the day lookin for it but never found it. If only he could have shot it after the snow fell would have been easier to...
I've only hunted deer with this upcoming year four years and the group I go with has never done a "push" or chased a deer down in a section and shot at it from the ditch. I know most shotgun hunters get a bad rep because of the few. I have a specific dislike for the bad type cause some of them...
Was wondering if anyone on here hunts in the way northwest corner of the state. Just wanted to know if the deer have been moving much? I go first gun season there on some private ground. Not asking for specific spots but just a general statement of yes, no, or a little bit? Only been back home...
Yes they are only there to attract deer but they are not dumped out of a bag or bucket on a specific spot. This gives much more validity to the fair chase idea. I guess when i think of a food plot i think of corn or soybeans that a farmer and hunter can both enjoy a harvest.
If it would help bring a parent with. I think you would feel good about what you are doing for the hunting community in your area. If these kids are lying or not it still might be worth bringing the attention of the GW but it is up to you. Good luck with the decision.
