    Oaks and tubes

Those lower branches won't be a problem. I would wait till the oak are dormant, to trim or prune any branches, as to prevent oak wilt. And never remove more than a third of the branches when you do. I'm more focused on the top of the tree, as long as I can still reach it. Wanting a strong...

    Triclopyr

I was in a big box Ag. store this weekend, looking to buy Triclopyr, as we were cleaning up some invasives in the timber, via a stump cut treatment. The salesman didn't advise it, saying it would remain in soil and kill our hard woods. Thoughts?

All Things Logging/Timber Harvest - Discussion

    Beavers — good or bad?

I like trees and so do they! Like with most critters, the habitat kind of determines the problems that may arise. I would try to keep them in check.

    Tree Tubes

We like tubes. Nothing is perfect, but they seem to protect about as good as anything. We cut notches up from the bottom to help ventilate and eliminate mice from nesting. Then when the trees are strong enough, we pull the stakes and hang the tube from a branch with a zip tie.
