Just finished up doing a lot of girdling & cutting smaller trees (1-3” dia.) for one of my 2025 projects. Thought I’d mention this saw since I use it a lot also & it’s quite a bit more affordable than my Stihl professionals… Echo CS-271t, 27cc @ 6.6 pounds, runs great with a sharp 12” blade.

Portions of our farm were mulched for autumn olive and the regrowth was not sprayed. Autumn olive will come back with a vengeance. Big mistake.

Interesting observation regarding the declining insect population. I remember as a child not going barefoot in the yard for fear of getting stung by honey bees and catching grass hoppers by the hundreds in a single day. I’m hoping to get a pollinator plot established this year to try to do my part.

I have degenerative disc disease. A pound or two matters…

Stihl 201 T-CM for smaller stuff & Stihl 261 C-M for medium stuff… They are both awesome saws!!! I’ll edit to add if you’re looking for a lightweight saw, the 201 is a much better choice. I love the top handle. It’s very lightweight, it cuts like an animal and you’d swear it’s a bigger saw .

I can relate to that article. Deer numbers way down, a bow hunter in every tree in November, rifles in shotgun, EHD, the good ole days seem to be in the rear view mirror…& sadly it doesn’t seem that long ago seeing multiple gross B&Cs in a single year was VERY common..,
