Any updates from the Denison meeting last night?

    2025-04-30/dnr-present-proposed-western-iowa-deer-hunting-regulations-meetings

I'd like to see no doe hunting for any nonresidents and a one buck limit for residents until numbers get to some agreed upon "recovered" level. An unfortunate truth is that people need to come to grips with the habitat loss and how that affects the carrying capacity of the landscape when it...

Very curious to hear what the "changes" will be?

    Missouri Survey on Non-Resident Hunting

I may be in the minority here, but I would wait so long as I had full access to public land. Access is such a huge issue already which is why I just can't get behind limiting that in any way. I have points all over the place and I just try to put a quality hunt on the calendar every year and...

    Missouri Survey on Non-Resident Hunting

I hunt out west quite a bit and that is why I took the survey and voiced my opinion in favor of going to a limited draw and increasing tag prices. With the exception of the wilderness rule in WY (outfitter welfare), I've never been locked out of public ground. As mule deer herds continue to...

    Missouri Survey on Non-Resident Hunting

This right here wins the debate, OTC for nonresidents is just not sustainable and their tag prices need to increase to make up for any lost revenue. Limiting access to public lands for a specific activity is a dangerous precedence IMO. I live in MN where nobody comes to hunt deer on public...

    E bikes on public

I agree with this, e-bikes would turn the public land into silent motocross tracks. In my opinion this would just be another case of us being our own worst enemies by way of continuously making it easier for ourselves.

    Harvest Numbers

Gotcha, that makes way more sense to my simple mind now! I live in MN as well but more Central and although less frequently than you guy sup there, we definitely see winterkill. Kinda sucks, we have food, no wolves but too little cover and you guys have cover with less food and wolves.

    Harvest Numbers

If winter severity is the most contributing factor and last year was mild, what explains the statewide dip this year. I'd have placed every cent I own on EHD but I'm always open other perspectives. In talking with the game warden in the area I hunt he also thinks EHD is the controlling factor...

    Harvest Numbers

I've been watching the counties I hunt as well, and the numbers are alarming but to be honest this is my first year watching them numbers trickle in so I'm not sure how this compares to this same time last year? I'd have to think that the bulk of the harvest is reported, and the entire state is...

    That moment

Absolutely, my phone is glued to me when my friends or family are in the tree.

A bad word but EHD anyone?

Any updates on the EHD front? I heard there was some scattered, light frost in areas, does that slow it down at all or does it need a hard frost to have any affect?
