    Tree planting in a timber

This has been exactly my experience as well, they're everywhere. Never ending supply of hinge trees I guess. Back on track to Daver's questions, if I were to try planting oaks in my timber I'm positive that it would be a waste of time unless I caged them. I planted hundreds of oaks in my...

    Tree planting in a timber

What wildlife value (or any other value) does hackberry have? I have a ton of young hackberry growing in my timber, way to many IMO. I've been hinge cutting or dropping a bunch of them the last 2 years.

    Any cuddeback experts on here?

Last night I had 2 bucks sparring in front of an L series camera and it took 12 pictures in 1 minute. Obviously 2 bucks creates a lot of movement but that suggests that sensitivity is what has been lowering my picture counts. My counts have gone way up by setting sensitivity to H2 and so far I...

    Any cuddeback experts on here?

Since this thread has been revived, I'm curious what camera settings you guys are using on the L series camera? I have 2 of them reporting to the cell home (non-camera, no cell plan). I had a old school browning hanging under each camera and the browning cams were taking 5 times the number of...

    Cuddelink questions

I went back and really looked at my HD tactacam pics and browning pics and to be honest the cudde pics are at least as good, maybe better in some ways. I think this system makes a lot of sense for my situation. Sounds like bigger panels are worth it too. Thanks for the info guys

Those aren't too bad, thanks for posting them.

    Cuddelink questions

The reason I care about the resolution of the pictures on the home card is that I really like to keep a year to year inventory of buck pictures to compare growth and patterns and I don't like saving the low res pictures. I hate pulling the cards out of tacticams at the end of the year and wading...

    Cuddelink questions

So the cell pics are low res, ok are the pics on the home cell card full resolution? Meaning manually checking the SD card in the home unit? '83, I don't really need the cell factor but it is nice if you are bored at work or if I'm hunting out of town for a few days and wondering if big boy has...

    Cuddelink questions

I'm leaning towards investing in the cuddelink L series cameras and I have a few questions that I haven't been able to find answers to. I live on the property and I would like to run 5-7 cams with a cell home unit at the house. I would pull that card most of the time and maybe activate the cell...

    Multiflora rose/oriental bittersweet removal?

Personally I have never tried it on locust but I bet it would work just fine.

    Multiflora rose/oriental bittersweet removal?

As far as I know it doesn't. Crossbow is strictly a foliar spray. The other nice thing is that it doesn't hurt grasses, only broadleaf plants.

    Multiflora rose/oriental bittersweet removal?

You guys that are using gly on cut stumps, are you all mixing 50/50 with water and do you find it as effective as Tordon? Tordon is getting pretty pricey. FWIW, I have had very good luck with Crossbow (spraying green foliage) on everything I have tried including honeysuckle, MFR, and even...

    Hawk blinds

I built my own 6'x8' blind (8.5' to the base) and used 3' anchors that auger into the ground, twisted them in with a crowbar. Two on each 8' side and one on each 6' side. It has survived the derecho and everything else for 12 years. It's on skids so those anchors are the only thing holding it down.

    Broadcasting brassicas

Just thought I'd update how this turned out, FANTASTIC! I broadcasted 8lbs of Welters Big Buck Brassica Blend around Aug 1st on just over 1 acre. It was pure dust at that time but I lucked out and got 4" of rain over about a week starting around the 6th or so. I never did put any fertilizer on...

    Broadcasting brassicas

Ok you have talked me into the broadcasting. I certainly wasn't looking forward to rototilling that dust bowl on an open station tractor in this heat anyway. I'll figure out something for fertilizer if it germinates. I've been in my local FS fertilizer barn many times and never seen AMS but they...
