I had a handful shipped to MN from Kelly tree farm in IA last spring. 18" seedlings planted last spring - where they get full sun most are approaching the top of a 5' tree tube now in year 2 in less than good soil.
Esch drill has been sold, i'm keeping the land pride.
I have 2 nice drills and I only need one but can’t decide which I want to keep so I decided to keep whichever doesn’t sell first. I’m located just northwest of the twin cities.
1st is a Land Pride 3p600 with 7.5” spacing and the small seed...
I shy away from the cardboard boxed ones as that is what the cheaper ones from amazon were and i suspect the same bad batches could end up at other sources. I plugged my nose and spent $3/ea this fall hopefully to ensure cameras don't crap the bed early on me. Something like $400 in batteries...
As a Minnesotan I couldn't agree with you more. The masses that participate largely just don't care that much or are just ignorant to how their desired hunting regulations impact hunting for everyone. It's a pretty hopeless situation to sway that many people's opinions and when the state org...
Updating my thoughts on this a little after the first go with my new 3p600. I know guys have been happy with it for no-till plots as is but I think I’m going to need to add a little weight to be fully satisfied at least on my soils. I’m used to a heavier pull type drill with coulters.
Compared...
I have a similar situation and I went mostly Schuettes oaks instead of SWO to hopefully get a little quicker growth and acorn bearing and also mixed in some spruce, red osier dogwood, and arrowood viburnum for browse and cover.
I concur on the browning dark-ops cams having lousy night pictures. The red glow versions have decent night pics. I would have hoped the dual lens versions like the patriot were better, bummer if they are not. In regards to trailcampro, i do give their overall review ratings less credence than i...
"no-glow" and "black flash" have varying levels of visibility brand to brand and model to model. I can still detect a faint glow from most of them if it's dark out but would typically not see them if i weren't looking for them. They also have a wide range of night image quality with some being...
Ok, what's reasoning against MN archery season opening in mid-Sept? Doesn't even seem that earlier given many of the states I hunt open first day/week of sept.
Not speaking from experience, just from other's input - I like getting them in their final location and knowing you wont damage the roots during transplant or restrict growth with a container. Let that deep tap root grow unmolested. Can be a lot easier to keep em watered in containers though if...
Good point. Little Billy with a button buck gets shared on FB and friends and fam give him a pat on the back but not many people see/care. If little Johnny's dad gets his self worth from social media glory (or worse - income and endorsements) for killing big things you best believe little...
I don’t like youth seasons. Old enough to kill something, old enough to do it during the regular season structure. If you’re a good parent and “put your kids first” put your focus on their hunt during the regular season ahead of your own ambitions.
