dbltree,
Wow, what a lot of info on switchgrass, this place is jammed packed full of knowledge. This scenerio may have been covered but I just want to do things right. I have set aside 14 acres of mowed corn stubble for NWSG. I will put 7 acres in pure CIR @ 7# per acre and the other 7 acres in the NRCS approved mix of 3.5 # CIR, 2.5# BB, 2# Indian, .5# Ill. bundle, and .5# partridge pea. All the ground is HEL.
My thoughts were to frost seed everything this winter, hit the pure stand of CIR with Atrazine around April 1, and then hit everything with Round-Up around May 5.
Will I lose to much seed frost seeding on HEL due to spring rains?
Should the CIR be frost seeded by itself, and then drill in the other NWSG with a rented drill or should i just drill everything like they want me to do before June.
I will most likely have to rent or buy a broadcast spreader for the NWSG?
What are your thoughts?
Sorry if you have covered everything already, there have been alot of dates and methods mentioned throughout the different posts.
Thanks.
