Yeah that hurts just thinking about it. Im disappointed for you. He could have smelled where you walked in. Ive noticed on cold ,crisp, dry days and mornings that its a lot easier to get smelled from your tracks. If the air is more humid i thinks its harder for deer to pick up your scent. I had a deer go to cross the trail I walked in on one morning and the wind wasnt blowing at all, The deer nearly fell backwards like he walked in to an electric fence. It was funny in a way. Its the only deer Ive ever seen get a weird facial expression. Like it was repulsed from my scent.It sounds like the deer didnt get over spooked though. Hopefully youll see him again.
