When I worked at a grocery store a "few" years ago, drove me bonkers to see someone come in and buy what food stamps allowed with food stamps, then pull out cash to pay for cigarettes and junk food. Then go to their car, and it's only a couple of years old. The food stamps are not a need at that point. QUOTE]
x2. I worked at Fareway all through high school and college. I would wager that over 50% of people paying with the EBT card (food stamps) were overweight and buying pop, ice cream, and the name brand foods. Then they pay cash for their alcohol and tobacco, most had their smart phone in their hand too. I didn't pay much attention to it in high school, but in college I caught on to it real quick once I was paying for school and an apartment etc. It didn't take long to figure out something is not right here.
