I guess after living in these EHD prone areas long enough, I would give an opinion that EHD doesn’t discriminate on weather patterns. In 18 we had moisture, last fall we had more moisture than the year before. The farms I’m hunting have seen EHD every year since moving to southern Iowa in 2016. Some years worse than others. It’s a double edge sword, we start getting dry and those nice flowing creeks will have way more mud than a regular summer. Sounds like a lot of reports in Monroe county of EHD in the last week.

I think the change is the fact every piece of property gets hunted and every person hunting now adays is running trail camera. More people are keeping an eye on “their deer” compared to say 10 years ago. If you’re around cattle operations and you’ve got consolidated water sources, I feel like you will get EHD at some point.
