Holy cow...that hawk didn't stand a chance! I'm guessing it is some sort of instinctual predator fight/flight reaction. Assuming the rabbit was squealing, that might have even triggered it like a high pitch fawn bleat. The first time I ever did a fawn beat, mind you at three does that I had already kind of spooked, they damn near ran me over coming back to the call.

And maybe I am wrong but that appears to be a young doe, maybe even a yearling compared to the second deer?
