Great looking youngster.

Has anyone ever photo chronicled a buck from this age or younger through maturity? Seems like you see the last 2-3 years of their life shared but not much more than that, maybe that’s a tough thing to track. I always wonder what that spike/forky or basket rack we see so often could turn into someday.

Here is an article from 2013 that contains pics every year from a deer age 1.5 thru 12.5 years. Started as a spike with 3" tines and turned out pretty impressive at age 4.5

We have tracked many bucks from when they were 3 on up to 8 being the oldest that I can think of right now. I am sure that we have tracked at least one buck from 2.5 years old and then shot him when he was 5.

It incredible seeing some of these pics! Love em.
What I enjoy the most is..., even with AGE, some (most here) just don't ever get bigger as they age.

It actually does, this buck is SE of Lineville, Iowa . Close to the border .

Very odd …

To me… the brows look a little different.

They sure do look alike?

The small 5x5 I posted came through the yard this morning.
Fat as a tick. Heck, he looks better now then he did a month ago.
Sugarbeet field 300 yards away sure keeps the going during our winters.
