Need ideas to fix this EHD pond

My property has small lowland spot that seems like someone tried to make a duck pond once. It’s usually looks as pictured and very rarely fills but doesn’t hold water long. Usually just a mud pit. Looking for some ideas to fix it. Was wondering if there is something I can put in it that will seal it so it holds water? Or a way to keep it dry so it doesn’t produce mud all year.

If want to get rid of, tile it or bring in dirt to fill in low spot. If want to keep, dig deeper and put a windmill to aerate water.

I'd say get rid of it if it was mine than plant that field. If you have a way to get rid of the water from tile.

I got a bigger one im dealing with. It’s a “pond”. Yours can be dozed in easy or tiled or for more $ -
Made into a good pond.
Mine…. Think im gonna rip the dam down with excavator drain it bone dry. & push all junk out with dozer & make deep, steep & clean. Done this a couple times. Works really nice.

One from before….

Above is just under 30’ deep now- clean & clear & my bro does put a few things in it to keep it that way.
Before he put stuff in.

It’s by our yard so kids use it. Ur example… might go cheap route & run some tile like above says! :)

We have a pond like that. Was good until the muskrats moved in, hasn't held water since. We tried a treatment of Soilfloc and that didn't fix the problem. Next fix would be getting it cleaned out and bentonite clay lined.

COINCIDENCE???? Over 15 years - if we find ehd …. It’s in one pond. Always same one. For sure more silted in, not as deep. Shallow banks, etc. I actually just looked at it on aerial to measure it to make a plan on probably knocking dam out & then deciding what to do after. Noticed this in aerial vs a pond about 1/2 mile from there on me that NEVER has had ehd deer in it.
I suspect a guy could find more stagnant water with less oxygen, more mud/silt, more midges & thus more ehd based on aerials….

Defiantly a difference looking at those ponds. I see a green color on aerials on some of my problem ponds I guess it is best to keep it simple and use and common sense and observations and not over think it.
