Slime in Tractor Tires

DMarley83

DMARLEY83
Looking for 1st hand experience here....

Has anyone ran slime in larger tractor tires without tubes before?

Getting slow small leaks in the fronts (bean stubble, locust thorns,etc....)and thinking about sliming them....(the fronts)

Any objections?

I take this thing places most farmers would not.

I put a commercial grade slime in my front tires with good success. Can’t recall the brand but was highly recommended on forums. Had a flat in rear tire that has rim guard and cost me $280 to fix!!

Not slime, but I have successfully plugged punctures in front tractor tires 3 or 4 times now with the sticky, rubber plugs. They have held up fine for several years now, no slow leaks at all. FWIW.

I've done this too, but the small slow leaks from thorns and such are really hard to find. I've gone from Slime, to

Berryman Products 1301 Tire Seal-R Sealing Compound.

Bunch of good brands that are WAY better than slime. Look at commercial and industrial tire sealants. They can plug like 1/2” holes. I rarely get flats anymore.
Every tire: I buy “high ply” - like 10 ply & higher. Put super good sealant in. I bit the bullet and bought the bucket pump so it goes in tires super easy. Tires & batteries are my biggest issues I bet. This really helps solve about 75% of my tire issues.

Here’s link to the sealants I got last time around…

& the pump/cover for a bucket if u ever wanna do this (way better!!!!!!)

Just an additional FWIW FYI...my punctures came from the stalks in a cut cornfield that I was mowing off one late winter day. I am very grateful to NOT have very many locust (thorn) trees on my place, so I have never had to deal with the thorns that others have. I really don't know if the way I repaired my punctures with the "sticky" threaded rubber would work as well on holes made by thorns, or not. But it has worked well for me on the holes that I do have. FWIW.

I have used the slime approach on a couple of ATV tires, now that I think about it. Those repairs have worked too.

This looks like pretty good quality stuff. There are 3 different product.

1500 , 2500, and 3500

Any recommendations?

Update on this.

I did purchase the Multiseal hydro 1500 and pump. Have since used it in my tractor tires(fronts) atv, 2 utvs, and mower. All had slow leaks. 100% good now.

Product installs very fast easy with pump.

Nothing like the green slime pump struggle.

Def would recomend to guys that do sh**.

I'm now on to my 2nd bucket.

I tried looking at the label online but couldnt find it. Does it call out a shelflife?

Thanks for the report back. I too am looking for the next best tire sealant for my skidsteer. I couldn't figure out if I needed the 1500 or the 2500. The 1500 is a lot cheaper for sure. I also wondered about the shelf life.....

What does the tire repair shop think about goo filled tires when you get damage that the goo doesn't fix or when you need the tire replaced? They weren't real happy when I took in a fix-a-flat tire once.

Is there some sort of correlation to number of "pumps" to tire size or more like eff it feels right?

Don't know. Don't got to go there for repair!

If they want to sell a new tire they will

And yes skip is right. Flat tire and dead batteries are a complete momentum killer!
