Got my annual Mammoth SunFlowers going and they are doing phenomenal!

Bout 7' tall now which is ahead of the past annual growth. Barring a hail event, these all should hit the 12/14' foot range and stalk diameter of 3_4".

I'll take the cages off on Sept 15th.
I look at them every day as I drive by them.
Closest guess on when the first one gets rubbed, I'll send you a 20.00$ bill.

May even set a cam over them to catch the carnage.

Been planting them for Years and they will get DESTROYED!

Fun annual project.

Let's have some fun guys.

Almost have to do a double take. Looks like some tropical tree planted in Central America or something ?!?!? That’s so great!!!! Keep the updates!!!

What's your guess Skip?
DeerDown, yes, I keep the lower leaves clipped. .
Jkratz5, that will put you out of the running as I won't take the cages down till Sept 15th. Lol.

Come on guys..., let's hear some dates.

Ib83, thanks,

I stumbled onto doing this about 15 years ago.
Did it just for ornamental reasons but the first year, ( after velvet shed), the bucks DESTROYED them. Now it's an annual fun project.
It's not normal to have mature bucks come through my front yard but when they do, they beeline to the sunnies.

Gotta admit..., I do baby them. Fertilized/ watered/ caged and keep the lower leaves trimmed off.

Good luck on yours.:)
