Trying to get brassicas in with all this rain

I have an area that is pretty clean and was sprayed but it's been too muddy to disc or till.
Do you think i would have good luck just broadcasting the brassicas and triple 12 fertilizer on top of ground with urea with good luck or would you wait for soil to dry out and disc or till and the plant brassicas and pack seed ?

I have had good results with “throw and grow” method as well with small seeds such as brassicas. Would recommmend using treated urea or applying close to an incoming rain (a day or less) to minimize Nitrogen losses.

Broadcasting Brassica on "Exposed" soil after spraying ahead of a rain has worked for me in the past several times as well....only time I had a problem was when I did a burn down with Roundup & 24-D due to major week problem and it sat a month before broadcasting and soil got baked in the sun "prior" to seeding ahead of what turned out to be a massive rain event where received 4 inches of rain in about an hour....only 1/4 of what I seeded took which was on a slight slope and protected by switchgrass buffer...the rest was on a steeper slope and all the seed washed off the field and started growing in grass buffers/waterways.

Put fertilizer out right before rain. U can broadcast for sure. A guy could literally go broadcast seed & fertilizer while it’s rainy here & be just fine without equipment. Lots of moisture!! Go!!!!

Annually, my planting dates are July 25. We got a 3" rain on the 21st.
All spots were sprayed/ fertilized before hand. Black soil and weed free.
I got them all seeded (broadcasted) on the 23rd as I wanted to take advantage of the wet soil.
Got a 1/10" that evening and another 1/4" an hour ago.
First time in several years that the timing has been perfect.

Should see them popping in the next 2_3 days.

Just checked. They are already popping.

Forgot to mention earlier. Never done this before but hope it works.
I spread them about 1/2 rate with goals to spread some more into them in 2 weeks or so.
Anyone else tried that? First go found for late season bulb production, 2nd for more tender leaf production.

Haven't tried it, but I like your thinking!
I planted some in the wife's flower pots at home a week ago. Didn't take long for them to pop up. Probably 10 times the seed I should've put in there, but the seed was from 2022 and I didn't know what the germ rate would be......well, now I know..... I want to get to the farm to plant them, but I'm trying to hold off until August anyway...

Thanks deerdown.

Hoping it works. If it does, (as planned), I think it could be an awesome all season draw. Timely rains of course will sure help.
Hot n humid here now. With the rains we've had, I can HEAR stuff growing. Lol.
Corn/ beans/wheat/ sugarbeets are looking FANTASTIC!.

My pumpkins are insane.:)

I think it will work as planned.

Side note I always throw a hand full of radish seeds in the land scaping out front at the same time as I plant plots. Fun comparison where they are /should be through the season....

The plot pictured was drilled with beans the first week of June, then laid over a heavy mat of rye and hairy vetch and sprayed. 15" rows appears to be canopied or nearly canopied. I was considering drilling brassicas into this field, but between the thatch and the beans I'm not sure how successful they'll be. Was hoping the beans would be chewing through the thatch quicker and breaking it down, but the property is remote and I can't be sure how thick the thatch is other than the pics. Beans were 1.7 and location is SW WI.

Any feedback or guidance welcome, thanks.

A good heavy drill will break that thatch easily. Will also give a path for the tiny brassica plants to break up through it. I'd drill away..

Well crap...
After future review, I feel totally dejected. Got new weeds coming in hard and strong in every plot I put in brassicas a week ago.
Mainly Perslain,lambsquarter and waterhemp.
Brassicas are popping also but no way am I gonna let weeds take over!
Gonna re spray everything and reseed.
What I thought was an ideal growing time ( 3" of rain, broadcasted brassicas, got another 1/2" over that) turned into a new crop of weeds.
And I did not even disturb to soil?

Years of doing this, I figgered I had this stuff dialed in. WRONG!!
Have never seen weeds come on like this without disrupting the soil this time of year.

Also noted:, even though I spread brassicas after a big rain and the seeds got another good soaking, we got a 4 day spell of temps in the 90s right after. The plots that were in full sun most of the day looked dismal.
Those that that had a bit more shade from the direct all day sun popped up faster and look better.

Sure would be a Multi_ Million $$endeavor if someone could come up with a RR brassica blend?

Same weed problem here. I tried something different this year. I worked soil a month ago and let new weeds germinate. Sprayed it 3weeks later and it looked great.
Then I go to plant this week and it’s a weed garden. Sprayed again and planted yesterday. Will see what happens.
Also have water hemp exploding in yard at home as well. Crazy
