Just recently bought a property and was considering getting some TSI/Bedding pockets cut now. This is what the timber looked like this spring. If you look close, I started edge feathering some of the field edges this spring. Would you guys cut this time of year? If so, how big of areas and how far apart should the cuttings be? It looks like on Sligh's farm he does around 1/8acre or smaller and they're spread out between 30-50 yards.

if it were mine… I’ll give you 2 answers actually …. I probably would go in there ONE DAY & knock over some “junk” (don’t hit good oaks when anything tips) to create structure asap before season. In one day you could get a few hundred trees super easy - cut & hinged or just structure on the floor - that would be of massive benefit this hunting season. Then- the rest- crop tree release & the “big job” …. Openings, hinge, Etc…. Immediately when hunting season is over. Winter. Forester asap if you want a plan or funding & winter is go time!!!

Just had some bedding cuts done on mine a couple weeks ago. Go for it!

Consider treating your clothes with permethrin prior. I never used to give a second’s thought to the damage a tick can do to the human body. Now that my wife has been diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease 10 yrs ago, and THEN she got it again last summer (tick on calf then the classic bullseye…heck, we didn’t even know you could get it twice!!) THEN a good buddy of mine was just diagnosed with alpha-gal last summer…just sharing some real world stuff. Ticks suck and the damage can be long lasting and severe.
