Changed to Tactacam Reveal

After comparing my Cuddelink system to Tactacams Reveal Pro 3.0 I switched. I can’t believe I waited so long.

My cudde system was hit and miss with my cams not connecting to the home cam, even with repeaters. The Tactacam searches for the best signal regardless of carrier and connects immediately.

Cudde setup isn’t hard but not easy. Tactacam sets themselves while giving you the ability to set cam settings at any time, from anywhere, via the Reveal app. Really cool. The Reveal app lets you see a map of cam location as they are gps equipped.

I did buy solar panels and noticed Reveal provides stout cam to panel cables that are difficult for critters to chew through. Cudde provided spindly wire that requires an upgrade to a wire mesh covered cable.

Most importantly the Reveal takes way better pics. Provides the ability to see detail needed for age, antler mass, etc.

The only downside is it’s more expensive. I went from running 9 cuddes for $385 for the year to nearly $600 per year for 5 Reveals as each cam must be activated separately. No link system.

There’s a bunch more features I won’t bore everybody with, but I wish I made the switch sooner.

Did u have the newest L cameras for Cuddeback? I run those and have really good luck. But to run 25 cameras- it’s $385 where it would be around $2500 a year if I had to do individual cameras.
Is the solar power on the Tactacams holding up fine? Was curious how that works out and if it can stay powered all year. My buddies own Tactacam & good to hear. I haven’t tried em just cause of the individual plans I’d have to get but sure open minded.

I had a bank of G series and L. No doubt L worked much better. Of my nine I’d say 3 were hit and miss connecting with repeaters. Not sure about Tactacams solar panels. I literally just put them out. I will give an honest update as I did have good success with the Cudde panels. As you said Tactacam is more expensive and I did cut the number of cams I’m running. Couldn’t justify it.

I’ve been running the Tactacam solars for multiple years in a row now without touching them, zero batteries in the cam as the solar system has its own lithium battery. Run perfectly still.

TCs have some QC issues. Theyre easy but not the best, cheapest plans or anything beyond a good general cell cam. Some work far better than others- this includes the cams, batts and panels. After owning 50 or so.....the originals functioned the best overall. The newest 3 series are good but have had a few duds. Would say do not buy any first run of their new items....they seem to be buggy.

Made the switch myself this year to tact. Not sure what I waited so long for either. The user interface in the app is the best I've seen. Requesting videos is incredible quality.

And yes the solar for me have been good since beginning of July.

I run both, and they each have their pros/cons. I see cudde has a new app this year with several new advancements that will bring it closer to tactacam from that standpoint. I haven't tried it yet but it looks good.
Agree, the L cams are much better than previous model G or J cams.

I just switched over to WiseEye cameras, absolutely blown away. DK Custom Taxidermy is a dealer. For anybody running high #'s of cell cameras it can be a great money saver as they have a ranch option once you're over a dozen cameras. The 4k video to your phone is so wild and I've had zero issues over the last 9 months.

and they don't need SD cards which is a lifesaver. So sick of those dang things lol

and on most I'm running solar which is so much better than having to change batteries once it gets cold & you don't want to intrude into your property.

Have both cudde and Reveals. Reveals are the best bang for your buck out there. They have thought of every single feature it's impressive. Have 30+. That said, in tough service super rural areas, having a cudde system where only home cam needs service is the way to go. It's cheaper for a big system too. I have 25 J/L/K Cuddebacks. The cuddes have quirks and haven't really innovated much since they came out with cuddelink. Frankly I doubt they'd be in business without it. They're also worthless without external power. Whereas a Reveal in a decent service area will run on 12 alkalines August-January (on natural movement of course). Have 5yo Reveals still ripping all season and if aimed properly, are really reliable on not missing much. Impossible to beat for $99-$140. I've only had a couple lemons over the last 5 years and Reveal sends me a new cam with zero questions, but cuddeback gets stingy on replacements. Dan Schultz was a gem, but not sure who's in charge over there now.

Both will run for years on solar without ever having to touch them.

I've always been interested in WiseEye. Do you have the DC or MC model cameras?

I've run the DC-2's and had great luck. Dylan Kral with DK Taxidermy has some great deal going right now below MSRP so hit him up if you want to try a couple out. Send me a PM if you want his cell #, otherwise you can message him at the business or personally via Facebook.

I've got 16 of them now after running 4 last fall/winter. Selling all my Spartan GoCam US Cellular cameras if anyone is interested, $50 each, 11 total.
