Maybe we shouldn’t use all acres but we need knock off using only forest acres too. There is a difference between deer habitat and wooded acres. 8% might be labeled as forest but far more than that 8% is habitat that deer occupy. The county I live in, Clinton for example, is estimated at less than 20 square miles of forest, yet the deer harvest exceeds 1,414 deer, or 70/square mile, if only forest acres are included. That example ruins the forested acres argument.Same.
Especially trying to convince myself that someone is using data about Iowa as a whole when less than 8% of the state is wooded…………..Comparing deer density in Osceola county compared to Decatur county is wild.
