Tree Spade- Sharpen Shovels?

I finally got around to using my tree spade for something other than planting trees in the yard. It's a BC make spade out of Wisconsin. It does a pretty good job, though sometimes the ground is a bit harder and doesnt cut quite as good. To those of you that have them, do you put an edge on the shovels with an angle grinder? I would think that this would help cut roots cleaner and get through the dirt better without the unit raising up on you.

I have a 32 inch BC but I haven't sharpened. I need to move some pretty quick if I'm going to.I know a guy with a pull behind that was going to retire if someone was looking.I believe it's a 44 or around there.

When using it are you inserting EACH spade a little at a time?
If that doesn't work yes you can put a little edge on the shovels.
If that doesn't work your going need to wait for softer ground conditions.

Ground conditions are key. Usually this time of year they slide in like butter. I'd suggest looking at a new blade and comparing yours to that.... sharpen if different
