We have been fighting out of control burns for a couple weeks now and some people just don't get what it takes to keep one under control.they don't consider the humidity or wind speed and sure don't check their phones for forecast. They also don't understand that they are 100% liable from the time they strike the match until last ember dies,no excuses, no would have or should have.I have seen car wrecks caused from them where the people recieved critical injuries and been on the side of the landowner getting burnt out.Had a rental next to me and it was always rented be not real intelligent renters that would like fires to burn trash. First time it came on me was a windy day and they didn't have a hose or anything out. I chewed their ass after my guys got the fire out and told them thats their 1 freebe. A year later did it again this time killing around 12 trees out a 20 ft tall wind break and then around 20 10ft oaks I had planted plus the 5 or so they killed the year before.I got their insurance and filed a claim. They called a nursery and got cost to move same size oaks and plant plus water for a year. Also cost to move cedars as big as they could. Then the guy that owned that 10 aces put it up for sale so I bought it,partly with insurance money and tore house down and left barn. But I have seen 1 cedar tree bring 6,000.00 out in a guys pasture.
Two biggest things is get your adjuster to price replanting trees as close to the size that got killed and maintenance. Also contact the FSA and get their replacement cost.I wouldn't plant anything yourself, let them pay to have done.
