Milo seed near iowa city

Hey guys, maybe this is on here somewhere else but can’t find it….working in the area and was wondering if anyone would know of a seed dealer near Iowa City that carries Milo. Gonna try some this year. Can’t seem to find one on a google search. Maybe not typing in the right lingo. Usually I just get stuff from Albert Lea seed house but if there’s some close I will just pick it up when I’m here, thanks.

Previously, I bought a lot of seed from Iowa-Missouri Hybrids in Keosauqua, but they folded up a couple of years ago. So, I have been buying most of my food plot seed from Frytown Trailers, about 3 or 4 miles south of Iowa City. Although not well represented on their website, they carry Real World products (Don Higgins) and I am 95% certain that they have milo, as I asked them about it a couple of weeks ago. I intend to get some from them soon too.

Checked in with Frytown trailers. They do have Milo on hand. They sell the Real World brand like you mentioned. It’s a mix of red and white Milo. 10 lb bags for $60 each. It is treated so a guy can spray pre-emergent

Talked to Albert Lea seed house. They do not sell any Milo that’s treated. Couple diff red Milo varieties 50 lb bags for $165 each. They also have a couple cheaper options for wildlife 50 lb bag for $62 and a 50 lb bag for $40

I’m gonna broadcast at 10-15 lbs per acre and cultipack.

That is key ^^. Milo is easily grown and very drought resistant, but you can get wiped out by too many weeds early on. The ability to apply pre-emergent really helps to address that concern. I have been planting 3 or 4 small areas of milo now for a few years with the primary intention to provide for my quail...and pheasants. I was a happy boy to see, and hear, many quail this weekend at my place. I am sure that the milo that I have been planting is an important part of the strong quail numbers.
