    That's a lot of deer . . . I think you guys are cheating. Congrats !

    Alright , tell the truth.......

Alright, I'll take a risk, and address this 'dangerous' analogy. If that high-school girl was a non-stop jerk, the visual perks wouldn't make a lot of difference - I just don't have time for intentional-stupid. I know you're just having fun with this one, and that's fine, but I do want to be...

    Alright , tell the truth.......

Alright, Ryan - I'm not a betting person, but if I was . . . I probably would have bet against you. WIth that said, I'm glad you are still here, and I hope you stay around for a long time. I don't much care about a person's past, because the present and future are a lot more important. In the...

    Muzzle Stuffer 08

That sounds like a fun hunt - to have the deer 15 yards from the blind. Neat that you and your wife were hunting together when the buck showed up. Congrats on a nice buck, and that is a very good harvest photo.

A chance to meet a great American

Taylor and I had an opportunity to be a part of something really neat tonight. We went to a friend's gathering that included a darn good meal, followed by a great speaker, a WWII veteran nicknamed 'Taz'. He was a tank commander in Patton's 735th tank batallion, and was a part of the Normandy...

    Quack Opener pics....

T250 - great photos ! I hope the duck season is a great one for you. And why don't you have your young ones out there hunting? I mean, heck, the youngest has to be at least 6 months old by now. Get with it . . .

    Trying to Understand

Not so much - when I smile in a hunting photo, it's because I'm at the end of a special event. When I smiled in my wedding pictures, it was because I was on the front side of something great. Same smile - different motivations. Plus, I was extra happy because I didn't have to prop my wife up...

    Trying to Understand

Soooooo . . . do you have any hobbies? Must be a hunter, since you joined Iowa's premier deer hunting site. Maybe you can share some photos. Wedding ones would be a good start if you don't have any others.

    The Old Gun Scores!!!!

Shovel, I really enjoy the perspective you have on hunting. The methods you use, and the insight you give are fun to read about. Thanks for sharing great photos and even better stories.

    New Guy

Welcome to the site . . . and be forewarned - if you come here very much, your addiction will just grow. Congrats on your first bow deer. You have a lot of exciting hunts ahead of you.

    No camera feels GREAT!!!!

Great post, Jody. For those who want to put in the extra time and committment to film hunts, I applaud them. I however, am not one of them. It's hard enough for me to hunt, let alone hunt on film, or film someone else. Go out and have a great season, and I look forward to the still-shot kill...

    Best bow deer yet

That's a great looking buck. I like the sweep in the main beams, plus the tall tines - very cool rack. Congrats !

    Saturday's Hunt

Congrats on a beautiful buck. And I am impressed almost beyond words with your hard work to hunt and photograph these deer. No one deserves a buck of that caliber more than you do - great job !!

I think I can get them all

I passed a shot like that about 3 years ago. Three young deer, side by side by side, and they were standing 10 yards away as I hid in some brush. I toyed with the idea of shooting them with my muzzleloader, but they were small, and I didn't want to fill 3 tags on such small deer.

    Make me feel better!!!

Okay, let's break it down to the simplest elements: it's 'just' a deer - no guarantee you would have shot it anyway - someone gets to enjoy this deer and the memories that go with it - you have a lot more deer left to hunt. I know that you have a strong passion for deer hunting, so this news...

    Deer Carts?

I have the Cabela's fold-up cart, and it has served me well. I may have to use it on some pretty steep uphill routes this year. Guess we'll see how that does. The larger wheels sure is an asset when going over debris.

In the market for a new bow?

Alright, this bow 'might' not appeal to all of you . . . but it is an interesting idea (I love the free enterprise system): A western Ohio company is now offering a Sarah Palin-inspired hunting bow. Lakota Industries announced its "Sarah-Cuda" bow this week in honor of Palin's "lifelong passion...
