Northeast Iowa vs. Southern Iowa deer hunting.....thoughts, ideas and experiences?

Have Hunted NEIA all my life. And this is just my view point, Those Upper NEIA counties get an immense amount of hunting pressure.(Those areas are notorious for big bucks) They have the Terrain, Cover, Etc etc etc. But they have waaaayyyyy more hunters than the lesser known counties. I've...

    2020 setting a realistic goal

(Dont compare yourself to those TV shows) I set my goals according to the place I'm hunting. As a bow hunter I set my goal to a 4 year old 150" deer in general. I've shot 2 bucks in that range now. So maybe I should increase my goals. The problem is, all the areas I hunt the people that hunt...

    Some Late Rutting Action

Went for a little cruise this evening, seen 2 bucks out dogging a doe in heat and chasing her in circles. Looked like a 4 year old and a 3 year old. Even some intense fighting over her. Reminds a guy of Sweet Sweet November. Getting pretty late in the year for this kind of action. About the...

    Help with shot

I think the deer is dead. Just bought a 450 bushmaster this year, shot 2 deer with it, with Custom FTXs. Both deer were stone dead within 30 yards. Definitely going to be some grid searching involved in a situation like this. Good Luck. Hopefully u get him recovered.

Deer season of Challenges: Turned out Pretty Good

I lost 2 of my best private land hunting spots to leases. Right at the end of October I was informed of this, and it kind of let the wind out of my sails. And with the SEA of corn that's left in the fields has definitely brought along its challenges. Nov 7th I was on my way into 1 of my...
