    ? for wildlife biologist wannabees

Some hunters must be killing their own deer or there would not be 100,000 deer killed each season!

    muzzle loader question

Try using different combinations of powder and bullet! Different brands and weights for bullets and different amounts and forms of powder! I have found that the pellets are more consistent.

    Limb Chicken

Limb Chicken, My wife just had our first on Dec 12th. He is already wearing Mossyoak Break-Up. Typing a little slow these days with only one hand free! Can't wait to share my love of the outdoors with him! Congrats to you and your wife!

    Land Owners Tag

Laws like that really make me mad! You are creating habitat and food for many species of animals, yet you can not get a land owners tag! If you ask me, you deserve one just like the traditional land owner. So you harvest one deer, you are feeding probably 50!

    Muzzleloader

Ogz, Try some cleaning solvent with some fine steel wool! I have some solvent that my gunsmith gave me that resists rust with some magnetically charged oil or something. After my first hunt, my gun rusted. After I remove the rust and applied this solvent, it has not rusted since. I can let...

    Muzzleloader

I have a remington 700 and love it, but a lot of people like the Knights. I would go with a 50 cal, unless you buy a Knight then go with the new 45 cal. For finish go with the SS, as it does not rust. As far as retailer, wait until the season is completely over and find some deals. If you...

    Deer Chat

We got him a few mossyoak break-up outfits already! Call me crazy, but I have already started looking for an 870 20 gauge. Our land is like yours with ravines in the middle. Our situation is nice because we are right next to some public land, so the deer get push off the public land into...

    Deer Chat

I hunt in East Central Iowa! My family owns a 200 acre farm and we also hunt all the adjacent properties. I harvested a deer during early muzzleloader and my wife is pregnant and due any day. I may pick up my bow and go out around christmas, but am planning to spent time with the new family...

    Slug season.....

When we hunted in a group, there were six to eight guys. The night before opening weekend we had a meeting to go over safety and look at maps of the land that we were hunting, that ensured that everyone knew the rules and where others would be! Over the years there were people that joined the...

Bone Crusher, If there was no shotgun season, then who would find the deer the bowhunters shoot and don't find! [This message has been edited by smokepole (edited 12-04-2001).]
