When one applies for a lot the dnr asks for a parcel number or name and queries the county assessor website to check it. They know exactly how large tracts are. When the assessors site is pulled up , and a name searched, all my parcels are visible. The dnr employee asked me which one I wanted...
I think this bill is intended to do more than just address deer numbers. It’s meant to clean up 2 acres of a timbered draw or fruit trees qualifying as a landowner. As someone said it was meant to help with crop damage etc. Whoever sponsored the bill allegedly believes 40 acres is more...
That’s not necessarily true. There is new legislation passed by the state legislature through bills and there can be rule changes implemented by the DNR in relation to law in existence. It’s worth speaking up. Never know.
NRs are required to buy an antlerless tag when they draw an any sex tag. Another dnr revenue maker. Is it huge in the big scheme of things, probably not. But it’s expensive compared to other states driving the overall cost to $660, when a person draws, adding up to the most expensive...
179 is the NR family members getting tags at half price I think? Completely oppose this as most do. Regardless of family status gotta wait your turn. Dad and grandpa are already tagging deer for NR relatives. This will make it worse.
Skip and many of us here support everything in the ISC clip you copied. IW, IBA, ISC try to be coordinated in the effort regarding issues that hurt and help. Also, groups like the IBA, not sure about ISC, hire lobbyists as well, that costs money. What issue in the ISC clip do you disagree with.
For 22 years here I’ve read very few shoot 3 bucks, never do it. Now, many don’t want to give up the third tag while claiming divisiveness, but few use it, what’s the issue?
We watched as nrlos were stripped of their archery doe tag and party hunting, that was ok. I find it hypocritical...
He didn’t falsify anything. The DNR recognizes timber as a crop that can be harvested. A nursery also qualifies. The DNR and legislature need to tighten it up. Hence this bill.
That’s what’s he’s saying. The LOT was intended to help with crop damage not fruit trees and timber draws. The program has morphed from its intent. I have a friend who gets a LOT for 20 ac of timber as his designated “crop”. Was that the intent of the program? Probably not.
As stated this passed committee yesterday and was re numbered as HF 388. Noticed a lobbyist in favor of the bill representing the Iowa Landowner Freedom Coalition. Who are they?
The LO tag issue isn’t a data/numbers thing, it’s a smell test issue. When you hear someone gets a tag for 2 acres everyone’s immediate reaction is, 2 acres? Really. IMO it should be 80. Back in the day farms were divided into 36 160 ac sections, or a square mile. To receive a “bonus” tag...
This bill passed full committee yesterday. The vote was 13 to 8 for passage with an amendment. The amendment I believe is the land must be zoned agricultural and not more than 35% of the reserved 600 can be bow tags.
Rec prices aren’t coming down. We’ve had this talk over and over. Wish in one hand….or buy land. I bought my first piece in 2002 at 700/ac and my last in October at 5700/ac. Keep wishing or find a way. If I waited for the “big correction” I’d own zero.
He froze spending govt wide. Gotta evaluate the hand he was dealt, which is complete shit, in order to make the proper cuts.
I removed myself from crp last year after 20 years. Best thing I ever did. When you hear I’m from the government and here to help, run.
Give it up. Jesus. Trump campaigned on this. Was the guys TV turned off for a year? I’ll take every dime Trump finds associated with fraud and abuse. Just because a program exists doesn’t mean it’s necessary.
Today it’s reported FEMA sent 59 million to NY to house illegal immigrants...
My wife shot two bucks with Bear Creek Ballistics 160gr round with little blood. Same as everyone above. Her buck this year dropped at impact but got up and walked another 100 yards. I was advised to switch to a Barnes Vor TX 170 gr round. Gonna try. Love the gun.
When you hinge cut a big sized area to promote thicket to keep deer on your property, when you cut browse to attract deer, I think you had a pic on a different thread on your property, tell us how you hunted smarter. If you don’t create the bedding and browse your big old buck might bed...
