OFFENSE!! 2 Bills to support!! SF 293 & SF 247 EMAIL IN!!! What a great change!!!!

Skip, I’ve saw you mention this a few places now about the legislators firing back about allowing 3 bucks to be harvested. One, can we get the data on the number of hunters that actually harvest three bucks in one year? Second, why not go to two buck harvest and take that argument away from the...

OFFENSE!! 2 Bills to support!! SF 293 & SF 247 EMAIL IN!!! What a great change!!!!

Different discussion in my opinion. Party hunting and two buck limits are not related because even if we go to two buck limits the party hunting still allows a buck to be harvested for every any sex tag in the group. Completely legal right now to shoot above 3 bucks in the gun seasons as a...

    NR antlerless tags

Good information and thanks for the insight. I do like the answer tho because it is similar to my argument on the 2-5 acres going to 40 acres. Is that argument worth the political capital and to tick off some residents to save an approximately 1200 bucks at most and for a moral victory. To me...

    NR antlerless tags

I may have misread a post under the legislation discussions but NR still get an antlerless permit when they draw a statewide tag in any season correct? Why don’t we push to eliminate the automatic antlerless tag given the current herd/population issue? I don’t have the numbers of NR antlerless...

OFFENSE!! 2 Bills to support!! SF 293 & SF 247 EMAIL IN!!! What a great change!!!!

Oh good, so that means you the others you mentioned along with IW, IBA and ISC are strongly opposed to HF 179? I must have misread a couple posts supporting NRLO tags as that would not align with the last box under critical state issues. I support what was posted above from ISC!

    SF 179 is back

This bill sure has an open door feel to it. I ASSUME since it infers party hunting this is for gun 1&2? What would keep it from being bow tags next year. Most gun 1&2 tags can be drawn in around 2 years I think? What will keep them from asking for bow tags next for the NRLO family members...

    HF 22

So we are incentivizing NR landownership and giving them an easier route to a tag!?!? How many more NR will buy small tracts or even large tracts knowing they will have an easier chance than 1 in 6 years to get a bow license. Buy in another state if you want to hunt every year. Or become a...

How many years ago was it that we were at 4000or 4500NR tags?

Week 5 Legislative update - IBA

Not that this one, HF 388, will get much attention on this site but I would recommend changing to 90-10 split like many Western states, I apply in several states and there are a few that align with this. Gives all NR a little chance to draw each year but most weight to the highest point holders...

OFFENSE!! 2 Bills to support!! SF 293 & SF 247 EMAIL IN!!! What a great change!!!!

Well any chance SF 179 would be one small step for the other side to open the door to all LOT NR family members for all seasons…. Can anyone tell me why our IOWA elected officials have 2-3 proposed bills that benefit NR!?!?!? Wasn’t the NR quota 4000 or 4500 just a few years ago?? Now we are...

OFFENSE!! 2 Bills to support!! SF 293 & SF 247 EMAIL IN!!! What a great change!!!!

I sure hope that the people supporting the acreage change also vehemently oppose SF 179 because the decreased buck harvest from the increase in acres to 40 acres will be whipped out by OTC LOT tags for NR family members that could then party hunt and NOT count to the NR tag allocations…

OFFENSE!! 2 Bills to support!! SF 293 & SF 247 EMAIL IN!!! What a great change!!!!

I’ll be honest, that is the only reason I have bought one the past two years so I can legally take my kids during youth and then the rest of the seasons. Is there another way to legally do this without LOT?

    HF 22

The issue is, if all NRLO got a tag just for owning the land, hunting in Iowa would be out of reach of residents and the State has recognized this at least in the past. This would be a net loss in revenue from tag sales, income taxes, employment etc. Other states, for now, can offer those...

    HF 22

Bad point. State income taxes, living in Iowa 365 days, etc, buying daily necessities…. NRLO are not net benefit compared to residents. Can NRLO get forest reserve?
  15. M

    HF 22

I don’t get the push for Iowa legislators to do anything to benefit NRLO…. If we start to go down this path then what incentive to be a resident? Plus it will only create more demand for the limited hunting acres in Iowa. Why on earth would an Iowa elected official look out for the interest...

    DNR town hall meetings

Does it need to get to legislators? Comments on herd numbers, EHD and antlerless tags are under DNR control.

OFFENSE!! 2 Bills to support!! SF 293 & SF 247 EMAIL IN!!! What a great change!!!!

Part of my argument is don’t hide behind “for the betterment of the resource”. If this is for moral victory “well they just shouldn’t get a LOT any sex on only 2-5 acres” then own it. There is clear data that shows the LOT tags have under 16% harvest so the 2-5 acres have a very small effect...

    New bill

I don’t understand why Iowa elected officials cater to the NR so much? Thoughts as to why? Outside lobby money?
