Apparently its okay to have a post that accuses Timberpine Tree Nursery of being poachers. Its okay to have an entire thread dedicated to roasting our Governor. Its okay to talk about the Drury's and Lindsay's hunting as residents. But, its not okay for some guys to give first hand...
Took a doe last evening at about 4:30. Had already seen 16 and heard quite a bit of shooting on neighboring properties. Most bucks were still carrying. Probably saw at least 50 more does on the way home. One field had 13 and another had over 20.
If you like the ease of using pellets, keep in mind that you can also get 30 grain pellets which opens up the option of 60 or 80 grains. I started my boys with 60 (two 30's) and then bumped up to 80 (50 and 30). This was in a youth Rossi .50 cal. Taking the kids is lots of fun!
Believe it or not guys, some areas still hold very good numbers of does. Some areas even need does killed yet. To make assumptions and look down your nose at anyone that is still killing a doe or two is to make yourself look like a fool. Unless you know the exact location where he killed...
Excellent post. Good for you for shooting a couple of does. I also need to kill a few yet and will be taking a couple of boys out this weekend to have some fun.
Its not too hard if you actually get involved and attend the DNR meetings or pick up a phone. Sorry if being informed is foreign to you. Some of us like to have our facts before we form opinions.
I can tell you this. In our area, many of the NRLO's that came to shoot their doe were always here during the rut. Seems odd.... I would think they would want to hunt the rut in their home state where they could take a buck. Our local C.O. caught guys cheating on that tag. He hated it and...
So, again, the best either of you can do is a sophomoric jab. Good luck with that.....
Did you run out of great ideas to benefit NRLO' s and save the Iowa deer herd from its residents?
That's worth another look...... lol
Most guys with hunting farms don't have any trouble getting to know people. :D
But, then the NRLO's wouldn't need all those tags would they? hhmmmmm........
Thanks for proving my point.
Too bad you cant see the irony in your posts.
I only bash selfish ideas that have no merit.
All I hear is crying, "give us tags!, give us tags!....." But, you don't want to listen to how that would hurt the residents. So, just take NO for an...
So, he cant make sense on the subject with only a handful of posts? Or, you just don't like the fact that he doesn't agree with your spin?
Either way, this makes you sound like a tool.
No. But another nice try. As others have said, the NRLO's have every opportunity to control their herd the same as residents do. Just because a resident can get a handful of doe tags does not mean they can effectively manage their land without letting others help. We took over 20 does off my...
This makes sense but is not how it was explained to me by someone at the state level. Go figure. They thought that even preference point buyers were included in the total number of applicants. Apparently not.
Anyway, I have some friends from out of state that I allow to hunt when they...
I honestly don't know the answer. Has there always been a cap on archery tags? I think not. My understanding from the DNR is that these numbers do reflect total applicants. Also, I think there is more demand for archery than ever. If you want to hunt with a firearm, the wait is short. In many...
The peak has come and gone. Governor tags have been around for years exactly as they are now. Knight used to bring in a ton of celebrities and have a banquet and host the Governor's hunt every year in Centerville. The hunting public already knows about Iowa, and has for over 10 years. The "rush"...
