    Ignorant People

Nice! I would act crazy. In college, I lived in an apartment and shot a buck. Ended up bringing it back behind the building and hung it from my open-air garage stall to clean. I'll admit that it's kinda insensitive, as I got a lot of horrified looks. However, I also met a good friend in the...

    Best Back Pack SPRAYER?? STIHL?

I worked in landscaping and golf course maintenance for 6 years, and can definitely sympathize with a leaky sprayer. IMO, SOLO is the best, and are popular for a reason. Tho, I've never tried Stihl. We had SOLO sprayers that got used daily all day and held up for years. Our issues were more...

    Forest Reserve Program Meetings

To address the public access rights, I used to enjoy taking advantage of WI's Forest Crop Law, which was similar to IA's FRP, but required participating landowners to allow public access. While the door is closing on hunting access, this is one way the state could improve this program. I would...

Also, throw a tree ring of mulch around the base of it. It will help stabilize and retain the moisture levels.

    Oak Tree Questions

I'm guessing drought stress. Could be crown rot too. Looks like it's planted a little deep. Pull some of the soil away from the base of the tree... if you can get down to where the trunk flares, that will help it out. Over time, the flare of the tree will work its way back up to soil grade...

    Oak Tree Questions

Also, suckers are usually a response to a wound of some sort. Oaks don't typically sucker that much, so you may have a related problem. All species of oaks are susceptible to wilt. This is from ISU Extension: http://www.extension.iastate.edu/publications/sul15.pdf

    Oak Tree Questions

Tough to confirm oak wilt without seeing it. Oak wilt is typically spread through the tree roots. Tree roots of one tree would have to naturally graft onto tree roots of an adjacent tree. Therefore, you will see clumps of nearby oaks all showing the same signs. You wouldn't see one here, one...

    LSA Report

The last couple pages and the conclusion at the end summarizes what exactly they are trying to show. It appears as though they are trying to build a case for more Non-resident tags, to raise money for their Fish and Game Trust Fund. I'm with Bonker and wonder who/what discussions triggered...

    Native Prairie Grasses and Flowers

Burn it all this spring, and then spray it after it greens up...hillside too. Wait another 3-4 weeks and spray it again. An alternative to burning would be to mow it all down this fall. You've gotta get a good kill if you want to establish a good prairie, and you've gotta burn or mow to get a...

    How Far Is Too Far

One of my good friend's uncle grew that 1st deer, Ballistic. Though I don't agree with it, it's certainly a site to see. I forwarded to article to him, and he's saying Outdoor Life is being very hypocritical. The magazine has put a number of his bucks on the cover of their magazine, but...

    Blaster is Pissed Off!!!

I get a security box for 2 of mine. Then wrap a chain around the tree and attach to box with a lock. The moultries have a little notch for a lock. They're cheap enough, so I don't bother getting a $40 security box for those cameras tho. So far, no thefts... I'm sure it will happen...
