Burn the outhouse and F the the thought of building a fence!
They have no place (intendedly built) on a hunting property.
Do that and it's a recipe for disaster for future buying progress.
Best bet is to discuss it with them, (first step).
2nd step, make that line a place deer don't wanna go...
Deer here are starting to move well again morning and evening.
Was horrible for a week or so.
From Nov 9th_ 19th, it was like they vanished.
Zero hunting pressure so it was not that factor.
My 1/2 acre pumpkin plot got Destroyed in that time period!. Lots of deer, just nighttime activity.
Got...
I would not consider the " brown is down" crowd bad neighbors.
They may have only so little time to hunt.
Now, if they are doing skakey things, go the the local barber shop and collect all the hair, walk the line and distribute copious amounts of hair. Works GREAT for awhile (so I've heard).;)
Memory as a kid involving a hunting kill?
I can remember mine. Guessing 5/6 years old.
Vagley remember the why/ hows but.. my uncle n i, we were driving down a gravel road and I spotted a Fox Squirrel in a telephone pole, I told him, he backed up and shot it (think with a .22lr).
I was TOTALLY...
Guy, I know it's hard to do (MYSELF) included, but...., we ALL must look ahead and take into consideration what the future looks like.
Those of us that have prime hunting properties to own/ hunt.., it's easier to fall into the " management " thingy and our judgements can/ does get clouded...
I know lots of guys that kill the crap out of coyotes with thermal.
Would bet both nuts that they would never poach a deer while doing so.
The 100's (1000's) of coyotes they kill annually are WAY more of a benifit then a few deer poached with thermals.
I know several guys that lock up good...
Gotta admit. All this hi tech stuff would be/ could be SO MUCH FUN.
My mind races back n forth over these type of topics.
But in the long run, I'm happy just to be kinda " old school".
My whole bowhunting life (45+) years have been to keep things simple.
Have dabbled in gadgets, yep.. but...
Heck, I find it enlightening just to find an outdoors site full of great minds that share info, tactics/ habitat work, important politics, gear ect without the negativity that SO many other outdoor sites often bring.
Still enjoying seeing my best friend( 83 years old) getting out to bowhunt.
He's slowing down some but still going g.
He's got full run of my property anytime/ anywhere.
He's out sitting in a tree right now.
Full size mount with big rack. Fill with tannerite...:D
Be a fun experience to capture some big bucks, implant tracking chip into antler and release.
Them bastards would have no clue how they " got caught".
Sorry to hear about your delema Skip.
My take on shot placement (arrowed). I've shot 213 deer myself and have been with quite a few others.
My average shot distance I'd say is 15 yards. My bows aren't " fast".
Even at close range, where I thought (seen) my arrow hit is OFTEN not the case.
A deer running with an arrow sticking out...
Can Iowas landscape produce, and keep a healthy herd if #s were to double?
I know many guys complain about low deer numbers in western Mn. Our landscape is being absolutely destroyed habitat wise. Old farmstead are being torn down, shelterbelts being removed, grassy fence lines are being ripped...
