Poll Question #6: Should cell cameras be on time delay?

I like the idea of a random unknown dump time ,still keeps trespassers on their toes that way.

Buffer Strips - Habitat and Water

The nitrates in the water are bad but we don’t even fully understand the damage some of these chemicals are doing to our water quality. When you plant corn 3’ from the water there’s going to be chemicals sprayed in that water. Anyone that says otherwise doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

    Yearly food plot maintenance

This should give you a good ballpark, in a way you aren’t totally removing all that grain since some of it is passing through an animal that’s putting it back in your plot. But splitting hairs there probably.

Th The ones that want quality AND just want to make it easy make my head hurt!!

    Maybe it's just the picture

I’m gonna say that’s a snare, I’ve had them chew the cable off before. Good to see a mangy one got away so he can spread it to his buddies.

IMHO Crp within 120’ of open water should pay 2x the average county rental rate.

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

I wish the antlerless quotas were prorated like say there’s 1,000 antlerless tags in a county. And say over 10 years average 25% are sold for bow and 10% for early muzzleloader. Those tags go on sale October 1 if the county hasn’t had a certain # of documented EHD cases. The remaining seasons...

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

Also food for thought, we talk about the 3,500 bucks or whatever get shot by someone on their second tag. Do we know how many get shot by tag sharing ? 40% of the harvest is during gun season not including landowner harvest during that time. So I’m guessing it’s a decent number ?

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

I see it like this: 1: we can do one buck tag one season, you pick and that’s it, this in my opinion is the most restrictive option of them all. I feel like the buck harvest will be way lower this way and pressure will also be way lower. This would limit a lot of time in the field 2: one buck...

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

From a lot of what I hear not enough people are shooting the culls now anyway. I also feel like it’s a no brainer that tag sharing would have to go away along with the extra buck tags ? I feel like I know a ton of people that would just abuse tag sharing if they couldn’t buy as many tags for...

What are you willing to give up

I still stand behind what I said about giving up straight walls if needed but: One thing I will say I’ve noticed from a couple years before straight walls vs every year since was the number of dead bucks I found when I was shed hunting. I do wonder if more guys were wounding deer with their...

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

If a gun hunter doesn’t bow hunt then he was already only shooting one buck. But to really restrict harvest, a one buck tag no floating period would really open up access and allow for more bucks to survive.

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

Other than joining ISC and going that route, is there any way of just starting a petition to lower the antlerless quotas ? I’m sure I could get 100 signatures pretty easily. There’s 29 pages of us talking about how to fix the problem and the only one we seem to agree on is we definitely need...

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

No I mean the tag floats between bow and one other season. So you can still only shoot one buck. Just not hunt 5 seasons to fill the one buck tag

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

One risk I can see going to one buck is that most people I talk to say “one buck tag, any season til you’re done” Well that’s my biggest hang up with it and that’s why I think it gets thrown around a lot. If this is what you want OF COURSE you want to trade your statewide bow tag in to hunt 2...

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

I wish some of the internet hunting celebrities that talk nonstop about 1:1 buck to doe ratios and flipping the ratio, bucks not reaching trophy potential because of too many does would consider that even if that is true in their small percentage of the landscape, that it does not apply in areas...
