Well a buck actually gets most of its genetic potential from the doe so that would not matter.
I can also argue that it would allow a TON more deer to get to world class status because more people like myself would burn our tags on certain years to remove the inferior bucks from the herd thus...
That's the perks of owning land pal. Most land owners I know rarely shoot 3 bucks now. In fact this past season I did not fill my LO Tag. And in fact I did not kill a buck in 2020 or 2021 so I am unsure of what you are getting at. I could care a less about shooting 2 bucks in a year, I kill...
I have seen a lot of farmers wives tag bucks but have never hunted a day in their lives. This is the whole issue with party hunting, its completely unregulated. This is why people like IBH1983 and myself are so against it. If your going to hunt in a party you should at least be required to...
In sort, yes! Spreading the fertilizer will not hurt a thing. If it was previously timber then the soil will definitely need some amendments. By fertilizing now it gives the fertilizer a chance to break down with the freezing/thawing and become more accessible to the plants earlier. As you'll...
If you dont want to use 24D, you can get 52 or 52% gly and it will work just as well. I sprayed some really thick clover with in last year and smoked it. 1-2 qts per acre with AMS. I would rather use gly when I can as I find 24d to just be nasty stuff, although I do use it in some...
Sure its possible but I would say highly unlikely. My guess would be it either didnt grow because of the drought or its there and so tiny you never saw it.
My preferred spring method is to light it on fire(if possible) to remove duff, then till very shallow, I usually set my tiller to its highest setting, then seed and pack. The spray a couple weeks after first green up with cleth and 24db, then just mow from there. This will give you your "best"...
you can look back into some of the previous posts and see where year 1 of switch planting I had next to nothing, but year 2 it came on pretty good. I would say that if your not satisfied with your stand on year 2 then year 3 will most likely disappoint. What I would do because its a screen is...
My second favorite habitat practice to perform(TSI/Chainsaw work #1). I was hoping to burn this past weekend as well but still had some wet spots! Nice work
So there I was this morning brushing my teeth in shower and getting lost in thought about this weekends possible habitat improvements I want to get done when something dawned on me...In my line of work I deal with farmers of all ages. Many of them know my love for the White-Tailed deer. And...
As a resident and LO I would definitely be ok paying another 10-20$ per tag to keep the NR tags down. The price of everything else has gone up so why shouldnt tags? But the price increase would have to be a direct effect of no more NR tags.
Im telling you guys, I came here from Michigan...
Being that the plot is small enough and it sounds like possibly equipment is the issue. I would weed it as soon as you can now...then mow it with a riding lawn more(if you have one). Heck even a push mower would work with the chute flipped up. Your just trying to get the left over grass out...
When planting "clumps" be careful how close together you get them...once they get about 5-6 years in them they will be fat suckers and make a wasteland quick....and remember they multiply just like gremlins do when they get wet....your entering a slippery slope with them....
