    Thoughts on deer prospects this year?

    That's the whole problem. Over the last 10 years there has been wave after wave of EHD, on top of technology & pressure increases, yet harvest has stayed the same. Recipe for disaster

    Acorns to Oaks!

    Are you going to tube them all? I have 100-ish from this spring's mass planting but can't stand to intrude planting them right now. Think just planting them in a bundle in the ground would get them through winter for spring planting?

    Thoughts on deer prospects this year?

    Bingo - all play a role but the days afield is HUGE imo. None of this is new- but in my few county area of IL the Xgun has exponentially increased the days afield. Virtually all were gun-only hunters pre xgun, now hunt ALL Oct, Nov, Dec BUT with their same orange army standards. Most wack 2...

    2024-25 Team Contest Score Thread(Teams):

    Nor am I, but maybe its being an 8 that limits the total? I have been low in the past but probably within the ballpark. If it truly comes down to a nail biter for Team 5 we'll dust the tape back off! haha

    2024-25 Team Contest Score Thread(Teams):

    Team 5 is on the board! First morning sit of the year Saturday 10/26 and first sit of the year in a little timber patch they just pass through this time every year. No cams or real recon or management around, just a real exciting "fun" spot! He raked a tree, pawed, and snort wheezed off...

    Spreading cedar berries in areas to grow cedar thickets

    Look up the "Transplant" thread. All about pulling and spading cedars for thickets &screens. If doing by seed, a bird needs to digest them before they'll be viable

    Rare Concordia Oaks Available Soon!!

    Have a little over an acre of bean field I'm converting over. Going to plant all these sporadically in rows and then native grasses in between rows. Seems like it will work on paper. Some of the conifers are going elsewhere

    Tactacam Cell Plan

    Could be. The mentioned ones are in wide open fields with direct, south exposure.

    Tactacam Cell Plan

    Agreed - the cuddelinks are great but external power is a must. Have several without internal batteries running just on the PW-3600 solar panel that are over 900 days running

    Tactacam Cell Plan

    I have around 20 reveals, varying models from the originals to newest. All on the basic $5/mo plan which gets you 250 pics I believe. All of the pics pool together, so 20 gets 2,500 pics/mo, which is nice. If you go over I think you get 250 more in the kitty for $5. I don't have many deer...

    Milo

    Looks awesome - I need to take some current pics of mine. The deer don't know what it is but it crazy the amount of doves and birds in the strips. In one strip as an experiment I did plant standard rate of grain sorghum, then an ultra light rate of hybrid "screen" sorghum to see how it'd do...
