There bigger things in life than a forum about goats so my time on here has been limited. Also trying to avoid ICE so trying to limit my social media.

    IW 2026 Poll Results

There’s no way they can ticket you for having IR in your truck. You have to be caught in the act of using it. That’s the biggest pile of crap ever. You can constitutional carry there’s no laws saying you can’t have IR, NV on your gun either. If you want to make the difference make the law gun...

Poll Question #2: Thermal Coyote hunting

If you think banning thermals during season will stop poachers, you also probably voted for Kamala so there’d be a change.

Poll Question #2: Thermal Coyote hunting

But you didn’t catch them doing it so how do you know it’s a thermal? Could be ir, could be a spotlight, could be headlights, could be a regular scope with a full moon.

Poll Question #2: Thermal Coyote hunting

Also if poaching with thermals is such a huge problem statewide why aren’t we seeing charges brought? Why aren’t there rifles with thermals being sold at the seizure auction? I’m not buying the huge problem argument.

Poll Question #2: Thermal Coyote hunting

All for opening up the IR and spotlight hunting for coyotes and bobcats during deer season.

Poll Question #2: Thermal Coyote hunting

If you use the right caliber and right bullet you won’t have enough damage to make a difference. Most people put bigger holes in them skinning them than they do shooting them.

Poll Question #2: Thermal Coyote hunting

I’ve heard of many slugs going through the sides of houses during shotgun seasons. Maybe we bam guns for deer hunting. The issue is not identifying what you are shooting.

Poll Question #2: Thermal Coyote hunting

22LR will drop a deer in its tracks but you could say you’re using it to check traps. Guess we’ll have to shut down all hunting and trapping seasons during deer season because if you have a gun in your car during bow season you’re a poacher. Take the good guys out of the field and you’re...

Poll Question #2: Thermal Coyote hunting

Coyote fur is prime in November and starts going downhill from there especially into January and February. “Most people don’t kill coyotes for the fur” well maybe we start enforcing the wanton waste laws. Then people will really start crying that there’s too many coyotes and raccoons. Why are...

Managing coyotes, how-to, why, fawn/prey mortality & all the methods

Just remember some counties in Iowa are closed to bobcat harvest. Others have a 1 bobcat limit while there’s some with 3 limit and only 3 per person per year. You also have to get your bobcats tagged by a DNR officer within 7 days.

    In season deer feeding

To me the new laws make it sound like it’s illegal to feed at all during hunting season.

Trapping coyotes on frozen creeks & in general, QUESTIONS!!!!

Trap creeks all the time for coyotes when it freezes. Super easy, don’t trap the creek itself just move up the bank and let the scent of your bait do the hard work. Just set areas where it’s easy for them to get up the bank. Don’t set in middle of the deer trail or you’ll be remaking the set...

    Poaching in the “good neighborhoods”

Fines need to be stiffer, look at the guys that do get caught slaps on the wrist. I mean our legislators were trying to make it $50 to poach does. You’d be money ahead poaching than paying for tags at that point.

    Poaching in the “good neighborhoods”

They could wrap it in tinfoil and it would put off a heat signature.

2025-2026 Team Contest Teams ( Score Card)

We can definitely try something else. Score was just easy to track and gets more people posting. I agree with what you’re saying though. Just hard to do an age thing I think.

Stuck at my cabin (snowstorm ) rant

I’ve salvaged meat a couple times after a 24 hour wait time. I’ve never used a dog but I think it’s a great tool.
