Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

???? Why, and how do you know this if you don’t mind me asking.

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

I agree with your entire post unfortunately the only hunters who will execute this proposal are the few here and other hardcore whitetail nuts. But, we are in the extreme minority. Human beings, the masses that make up sheeple, need direction, rules and be told what to do. Even when one...

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

Ok. Let’s get ahead of it. Share a weapons de-evolution proposal that the Iowa state legislature and/or dnr would seriously entertain for future seasons if one buck doesn’t work out.

Leaving standing beans or an alfalfa field isn’t crossing the line??

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

Mowing corn, leaving standing beans, alfalfa, brassicas etc. What’s the difference. 35 years ago I guess the combines weren’t as efficient as we would hunt the edge of cut corn fields, corn everywhere. I guess if you don’t plant it hunting it is ok?? Food plots, tech, better weapons blah...

    I need my own property....

Are there possibilities to add adjacent property down the road?? Like others said I’d do it. Add to it if possible or as Hardwood said make it A1 and flip it for a bigger piece.

Ohio is also a bait and crossbow state. Not sure how they maintain quality.

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

No pins to aim. lol. More deer would be wounded than anything. I think sights on bows are fine. If anything I would ban the range finding bow sights, sights that magnify and of course continue to keep cross bows out.

Debate: One Big Plot OR Screening to break plot up into Smaller segments

I have a couple larger plots, 3 acres, that we use mostly for muzzy or gun seasons. We put in 3 or so micro plots 1/4 ac or so in tight places using the surrounding timber/cover for so called screening/comfort for bow hunting. Instead of planting screens we use existing cover. On the larger...

    2025 CRP PAYMENTS

I called the Monroe County Iowa FSA office on this topic. You can absolutely lease or charge a fee to hunt crp enrolled land be it birds, deer etc. One caveat was no permanent blinds in the crp itself. If a blind is erected for hunting it must be removed after season. That was it.

    2025 CRP PAYMENTS

Every outfitter in Iowa would be out of business if you couldn’t lease crp land.

    2025 CRP PAYMENTS

I see no place where it says one cannot charge a fee for recreational hunting on crp land.

    2025 CRP PAYMENTS

The government can’t interfere with recreational activities on the crp land. The prohibited activities you list would damage the acreage and/or reduce the enrolled acreage. Hunting doesn’t do that. I removed my land from crp a few years ago after 20 years in the program. Best thing I ever...

    2025 CRP PAYMENTS

Yes it’s truly in crp, I know the guy. My understanding is he can sell hunts. Nothing precludes private land enrolled in crp from being hunted for a fee. I leased a farm enrolled in crp in Illinois to deer hunt. No difference.

    2025 CRP PAYMENTS

Created in 1985 the crp program was intended to reduce severe soil erosion from HIGHLY erodible farmlands and decrease crop surpluses, supporting farm income by paying farmers to take environmentally sensitive land out of production, I’d say much of the property in crp does not fall in the...

    2025 CRP PAYMENTS

I think his point is crp has gone beyond the boundaries of established intent, like every government program ie unemployment, disability, welfare, ptsd, tbi and a million others. The intent is good but fuzzy parameters, subjective variables and greed cause bleeding of the program.

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

The point is the abuse is more prevalent during shotgun seasons I guarantee you. Bow hunting is more solitary and individual. Group hunting during the gun seasons involves more people, more deer killed and more tags needed. It’s common sense. Come on.

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

I’d like to know how many deer are tagged with the wife’s, Grammy Betty and auntie junes tag. That’s the abuse factor. It’s not as simple as if the deer has a tag it’s ok. I’ve witnessed guys say I can’t go out the last weekend and give tags to guys who were.

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

Didn’t blame anyone. But I’ve always believed party hunting is a joke. A person should be able to fill their tag and their tag only. If you fill your tag you can push but not shoot. A “pile” of tags for a group leads to a free for all hunt with a if its brown it’s down mentality. I don’t do...
