    Before the echo podcast

I doubt he is nieve and knows populations have been hit. There is a due process for everything. There is not a magic wand to wave and all is better. What is your plan? (Keep in mind it needs to survive all the red tape on all sides of this (what most dont even know exists) issue. All im...

    Before the echo podcast

Major takeaways - no crossbows - no increase in nr tags - no guns during rut - considerations of ehd kill offs when adjusting quotas - in favor of a balanced herd - in favor of quality over quantity For a government official Im very glad to have him in place! Im not sure what he could have...

    Before the echo podcast

Lack of cover, lack of deer, if you are deer hunting and see 1 deer you shoot it. Just so happens to be a young buck. If you pass you prob dont see another 1... My family farm is in Pochahantas county. Literally the only cover is Farmstead groves, dredge ditches, crp, and an occasional...

    Before the echo podcast

I had about an hour road trip this morning so I listened to that podcast. Holy cow, we got a good representative in Jace.Elliott!!!! It sounds as if he is very in tune with the deer herd here in iowa as well as the impact of the legislation! Also sounds like trail cams on public. issue is...

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

I know better than anyone what a pain it is to have multiple locations but it is worth it. One farm gets hit hopefully the others do not! PIA yes. Kinda a insurance policy. Only answer I know of. Trailer up and go!!!

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

I never claimed to be a self proclaimed land manager as soo many do. Im guessing u may use that title. We must be doing OK here because I have not made a single post on here about bad dear hunting or quality???? It's taken an hit but we still had multiple 5+ year old deer to hunt on all our...

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

Not saying it would solve it. I think one would be naive to think it wouldn't help.... If I get one tag i bet I would punch it once every three years. Waiting for that one amazing one with one tag. The way it stands now i'm guessing I kill 1.5 to 2 bucks per year on average. Have taken 3 a...

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

I've had farms all over the state and it sounds like to me without knowing anything about your situation other than what you've stated is that you more have a hunting pressure problem than anything else. I'm not saying it's you, nor am I saying anything negative about any of your neighbors...

    Poll question #14: smokeless muzzleloaders

Kind of like the remark below... did "we" pass these changes or were they just shoved down our throats? I don't remember any votes, town halls, or even subcommittee meetings. That was also before most of us were paying any attention... Iowa had gone so long with very few changes I think...

NDA report, interesting re yearling bucks…

Here's the thing , though , how many farms are still getting pushed and treated like that? I'm guessing less than 50% of the farms from 20 yrs ago. That's 2006 BTW which is hard to believe!

NDA report, interesting re yearling bucks…

Honestly with all the fake news, AI generated b s, you pretty much cannot believe anything and just have to go with your gut. I used to say , believe none of what you hear and half of what you see. Now you can't even do that. Do a lot of the year and a half olds get shot sure. I don't know...

NDA report, interesting re yearling bucks…

    Poll question #15: AR pistols

Yes I have seen that as well. I cant imagine that was the intent of mL season....

    Poll question #15: AR pistols

Im a gun advocate. I enjoy the freedom to own these guns! I own multiple of these gun. I enjoy shooting these guns. However they are a "loop hole" for hunting with a pistol. Technically yes they are pistols. Hower when you shoulder like a rife, shoot it like a rifle, mount a 10 power scope...

Poll Question #9: Would you support eliminating the late doe season

I would agree with this idea. Would be a good step towards ending tag sharing.

Poll Question #7: Would you support ending all seasons by December 31?

Im a hard no on this 1. It's not because my selfish wants or "got to get my buck " I really enjoy hunting the winter weather! We barley get it any more....

Poll Question #8: Would you support legislation to eliminate a buck tag

So your willing to give up one buck tag to support the cause but think a land owner should give up 2 tags to show the same support? Whats the logic?

Poll Question #6: Should cell cameras be on time delay?

24hr Delay while being used for hunting purpose. (Hard to enforce however) If on a gate or building or any non hunting scenario no delay.(again another hard to enforce)

Buffer Strips - Habitat and Water

I think it is safe to say we live with 100% of what we put on or in our crops. It's in our water, in our air, and in our soil. Weather that be herbicides, insecticides, Neonicotinoids, fertilizers...... Im no expert but we live with all of it!
