    Mowing will help reduce intensity and flame height. You can do a lot of mitigation with firing techniques. Also pay attention to your weather conditions. 60/40 rule keeps things pretty safe. 60 degrees and 40% humidity.

    The key to using a truax is getting it level. The giant spring going from tongue to frame is used to get the box level. If it has depth bands it will still plant almost an inch deep. If you have bands they cam be taken off I'd needed. They are good planters.

    Nation wide was a 89% acceptance rate. Iowa was 97%. Missouri was 98%. Only the very lowest scores did not make the cutoff. Local offices will begin to notify producers no later than April 3.

    Look for a truax no till drill. They make a small one that plants 5.3ft wide. It can be pulled by 40 hp 2wd tractor. Make sure you got hydraulic remotes to raise and lower drill. Those drills can be found used for 4-6k. It's not the hp that the issue...its the weight of tractor, soil type, soil...

    You would have to own if for 12months prior to end of signup period. FSA is supposed to check deeds now. If your have not filed a schedule f for last 10 years...then you can get around the 1 yr ownership. Or just wait till December 2020 and sign it up. There will be a general signup each year...

    The crop years were set in the farm bill regulations. Dont rule yourself out...make the fsa office tell you that your not eligible. There is a special term called "conserving use" and you may qualify even if you don't have 4 crop years from the period. Ask them to check into it specifically...

    FSA has changed the rules on seed cost some. Now they will only pay 50% on seed cost. They will ask for seperate bill for seed cost. They will be monitoring seed cost more closely. Seed cost will be determined by the mixture selected.

    Over 60% of the crp acres nationwide will expire in next 3 years.... there will be annual signups each year to allow offers to fill those acres each year. So it will be interesting to see how supply/demand will affect incentives and rental rates adjustments for each of those signups.
