    Current state of farming/ag

Add in record high land prices - it is a business that make zero sense, dollars and cents wise anyway. There are positives to it, but it takes a second full time job to be a farmer. We'd sell every inch of our land if it wasn't for the enjoyment we find in the native habitat, wildlife, and...

    Extra acorns from last fall

Anyone have any extra acorns they collected from last fall they're wanting to sell? I purchased some from Sheffield's and looking to add some more to some new air pruning beds I want to try. Red oaks would be great to have added! Thanks!

Poll Question #2: Thermal Coyote hunting

Valid arguments - I've often thought me being in the field at night is good patrol of what's going on. Granted I can't tell if those shots in the distance are killing coyotes or deer but I have awareness of a little information just having been out and hearing the shots. I'm on the fence on...

Poll Question #2: Thermal Coyote hunting

Gosh - this one is tough as an avid thermal hunter but I voted yes. I've seen poaching done at night by thermal hunters and anything to stop it is worth it IMO. Sucks to have to "punish" the good guys but it's worth it in my opinion.

    Hiking boot with recommended

I'm a Crispi boot fan as well - used to buy "nice" hunting boots like Danner, LaCrosse, etc.... then got higher end boots and will never go back! Look for them on sale, can get a pair for under $300

Poll: How’s Hunting this year vs past seasons? Short & long term choices

Short term and long term quality of hunting is terrible here out West. I've bowhunted 2 hours so far this year and may hunt a couple more hours yet. Not going to lower standards just to fill tags. I'd rather work on improving habitat now and invest in making the future better. Too many...

    Buying land in your 20s

Save money and work your way up in a business/job that makes ya a bunch of money. Spend wisely, save, and prioritize your goal. For me - exceling at my day job made land ownership possible. There's a ton of opportunity in the business world today if a person has some drive, desire to work...

    Cell cams

You can change the delay to be one hour and/or set it to only take pics during certain times of the day. Say 9pm to 6am, or whatever you'd like. That will help you only get pics during the times you want.

    Cell cams

I run Stealthcam and Muddy cams and can easily do all you listed. In his situation I'd use an unlimited plan. Which means unlimited data. If you set the camera to video mode you get 10 full video downloads a month. The rest of the videos can be viewed on the app as a gif and will be saved to...

    Youth hunting- 350 ammo

Saw some Barnes in Fleet Farm yesterday I almost bit the bullet on but I've had good luck with 180grain soft point Federals? Blood trails are decent I thought, nothing crazy but easy to follow when double lunged.

    Tree Planting

I stopped pounding a post in when the spade gets about half way in the ground for that exact reason. So far zero effects when removing post on trees. My assumption was the spade wasn't deep enough to get into any serious root issues.

    Switchgrass

You read my mind! The mix of foxtail looked like bird heaven eating those seeds and brining some diversity into the mix. The brome... that stuff is our #1 enemy lol Gonna burn this spring and see what happens, otherwise fall spraying after switch goes dormant will be done in 2026 for sure!
