    All for naught?

All these polls on what you think about deer related hunting issues might be for naught. It might seem great to flex and vote your views, but what happens when the rubber hits the road? Who is going to enforce the laws. I mentioned it previously in a post that our DNR game wardens are spread...

Poll Question #7: Would you support ending all seasons by December 31?

Just took a walk with a ML and the evil floating LOT that went unfilled. Should have taken that evil mile shooting smokeless.;)

    Blast from the past.

I think Limbchicken (now on the ISC board) put together the 2005 one. Maybe Kratz did the second one, 2006?

Tim Waltz attack on deer farms. Whose farm is next?

    Easy on a fellow hunter.

Poll Question #11: Should NRLO get yearly buck tags with a minimum qualifying acres

There was a local Christmas tree farm that the tree acres of the parcel was around 2-3 is my guess. He had major deer issues. Point I'm trying to make is that there are many alt ag uses out there that don't require much of a footprint. But I'm not naive enough to think this isn't getting abused.

Poll Question #5: Should mowing standing corn be illegal?

Funny you should mention that as I was thinking earlier tonight that nobody has brought up the option of increasing funding for the DNR to increase the number of officers in the field. They are spread thin to enforce the current laws, let alone adding all kinds of new regs. But for most...

    Thermal Bow Site

I think it would encourage hanging out in the stand a little further past legal hunting hours. Maybe longer than a lighted pin.

Buffer Strips - Habitat and Water

David Cwiertny: Pretty sure his group monitors for a wide array of contaminants.

Buffer Strips - Habitat and Water

The dirt is the coffee grounds, the ag chems are the caffeine. Not all chems bind to dirt.

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

Anybody besides me remember having to mail in your deer license application and praying that you got an either-sex tag (hoping for venison) as the majority of tags issued were buck only (and odds were you wouldn't fill it)? Iowa was a one deer state once.

Poll Question #5: Should mowing standing corn be illegal?

Ok, yeah, I've seen deer hit freshly combined fields, so think mowing will draw them in as well. Just don't have experience with mowing corn for "hunting" purposes.

Buffer Strips - Habitat and Water

The individual farmer's only control over grain prices is when he chooses to sell into the market. Not saying they shouldn't be held accountable in some fashion. One DNR employee I know calls field tile the "hypodermic injecting poison into our rivers" and probably isn't far off with that...

Poll Question #3: Should NR doe tags be limited

Seems like extortion by the State to force NR's to buy a doe tag, IMO.

    Poll Question #13: Drones

All drones, IMO. I've heard of a person that scouts land he doesn't have permission to be on with drones, then sees how/where he can get permission if he locates a trophy. Reminds me of those that spotlight trying to locate trophies first, then gain permission second. Might be legal or on the...

Buffer Strips - Habitat and Water

If it had all been contiguous, we lost a strip of CRP that would have been 8 miles wide along I80 from the Mississippi River to the Missouri River when contracts expired. Think about that a second. All the wildlife, not just deer, plus water quality.
