EHD in south central part of the state consensus/observations

Not to rehash last years unfortunate EHD and the feelings that accompany the sad situation. But I am very curious of people’s observations and experiences during last years 2019-20 hunting seasons. Due to several unforeseen factors and those curveballs that life throws us we are in the process...

    Dumbest Poacher of 2019

Right there is a perfect example of why I often find myself wondering how on earth our society functions day to day when we are surrounded by so many amazing human beings like that guy

Necked cartidge bill returns HF 716

As I type this with my head in the toilet getting sick. I’m very curious in simple layman’s terms what exactly, or as far as we know so far is this new bill legalizing? Curious to have a better understanding of what is accurate compared to my own interpretation. Or maybe we don’t really know the...

Necked cartidge bill returns HF 716

It may be to late but everyone who understands the negative effects this disgusting new law will have on Iowa’s fragile whitetail resource needs to...

Anyone heard? No early muzzy or late doe season this year?

Was browsing the Iowa DNR site and far as I can tell there is no advertisement for an early Mozzy season this year or the infamous late doe season. Anyone heard more factual evidence of this yet?

Reminiscing of hunts last fall found some pics i took evening of October 24th and the beginning of that magical time of year. Was a beautiful fall late October day and the juices were flowing. Enjoyed the views, the great weather and many deer sightings that evening including a very respectable...

    I don’t get it

Money is the root of all evil. Cliche? Maybe . Fact.....yes!! The trends in Iowa and other states I have hunted for many years is for the DNR to become increasingly liberalized on laws and regulations and to “decrease the deer herd” Why? Well that’s an easy answer

    I don’t get it

You are absolutely correct IMO as well. I personally know of countless families that had a parent or both parents highly involved in the outdoors. Usually these parents came from generations of active outdoors (hunting, fishing, etc) families as well. Majority have tried to introduce their own...

Let's talk DIY out of state hunts...

Another over looked and critical part of an out of state DIY hunt is who your hunting partner is or partners are. DIY hunts require a lot of research and work both physically and mentally. Everyone involved will be tested in various and important ways during the hunt and how well you hunt...

Abnormally high amount of pics like this.....

Picked up a very solid 5pt shed on January 8th near some standing corn while hiking to my spot during late muzzy. Hoping he didn’t drop so early due to injury or poor health as I’m looking very forward in chasing him on this particular public piece next year!

Northeast Iowa vs. Southern Iowa deer hunting.....thoughts, ideas and experiences?

I have to agree with you on the simple fact of how insanely competitive the “sport” of deer hunting has become and likely will continue to become even more so. This thread on this site is definitely a big reminder of that fact. I was looking at it from the perspective of the curiosity and...

Northeast Iowa vs. Southern Iowa deer hunting.....thoughts, ideas and experiences?

Nope we got the move accomplished just awhile back and we now live up in Allamakee county. Both work and the beauty of the area along with all the outdoor hunting and fishing opportunities is why we ended up where we did in NE Iowa.

Northeast Iowa vs. Southern Iowa deer hunting.....thoughts, ideas and experiences?

I apologize I see why you would be abit upset. I didn’t mention that I live in Iowa. My fiancé and I moved to Iowa this summer. We are in the NE part in Allamakee county. My thread topic was in no way meant to gather free information. It was however meant to be an open debate on the subject out...
