I turned a tall grass (non CRP) area into a future brassica plot yesterday. Sprayed it two weeks ago - went in last night and did a controlled burn. Will broadcast seed and nitrogen in a few weeks around rain and spray again a few weeks after that. I took a mower and cut a double wide...
I broadcast urea right after I spread the seed during a light sprinkle. once the plants were about 1"-2" of growth I went back and broadcast 13-13-13 and 46-0-0 Urea (again- hours before rain) the plots have turned out great that I have used this method. Fortunately i have had...
if burning it is an option I would do a controlled burn. And then do a good no till. Majority of my brassica plots have been no till- just time it right where you are planting RIGHT before a good rainfall and ideal in a few days after that will be another decent rain.
been slacking on posting photos- here are a few of bucks I have on camera so far- still need to get cameras up at a few spots but its been fun checking the ones I do have up so far.
I use the IPHONE card reader purchased at the apple store. I take my ipad into the field with me to check the cards and save the pictures right to the ipad (it saves them when you import them)

I didnt make it to all the booths, but I had a blast just for the fact of chatting and meeting a ton of people who enjoy hunting like I do. Aside from working it with my booth- I would still go every year just to chat away like Lyon and Ishi pointed out.
last year we didnt keep any because of the way everyone described them as terrible tasting. This year our guide had some snow goose salami and it was phenominal. So I cleaned every one of them we shot this year and I am going to try them a few ways. If I dislike them I guess ill get a lot of...
Went down to Missouri for the second year in a row chasing snow geese- ended with 60ish for the weekend. Not as good as expecting but a great weekend! had a good buddy come with and film it all and take some photos. The drone footage is amazing but dont have any of that done yet.
