    Helping deer over winter.....

2.5yr8, We had a doe like that here for ten years. She was one tough gal. I had same rule on her, no one could shoot her. She raised a few fawns into winter. I would clear snow off of clover plots for the deer but probably more so for her. Just a heads up for those clearing areas of your...

    Rut report 2020

Tonight I saw one mature buck chasing, mouth wide open, drool rolling out, breathing heavy, working a scrape about 50 yards from my house. Watched another mature buck walk into the standing beans like he owned the place, acted cool, calm, collected, barely even noticing the does in the field...

    Your thoughts on Lakosky, Glesinger?

Lakosky and Drury's feed anilogics year round, that's got to add to the chance for the deer to reach max potential in as fast as time as possible. If I could afford to feed deer year round or seasonally when they need it most I'd feed that also.

    What's your unpopular hunting opinion

Hunting land I own from a blind on my side of the fence, just off the property line, only shooting on my side of the fence, to keep the interior of my 80 acres from being blown out walking to stands closer to interior.

Any ideas what is killing my arborvitaes?

Bag worms were horrible this past spring and I notice a load of them again. I also have had those trees and cedars die the past couple of years. In my research of bag worms it says they can kill those trees if bad enough infestation. It looked like Christmas ornaments on all my arborvitaes...

Mine were out last thursday already, about 2 inches. My miscanthus is already 8". I was surprised that both were out and about already. I wanted to get a gly spraying over the switch to kill the cool season grasses but missed my window. Dammit Jim.

    Tree tubes and T posts

Yes that looks like a good solution to that problem. I bet the wind blows there with it being so open. Do you check all the tubes in the spring for mouse nests/girdle issues or do they seem like they stay free of those issues?

    Tree tubes and T posts
