I pulled this from ISC's Facebook page. I'm not sure what I'm missing here as to why Meggers and Hora killed it. My assumption is the great Farm Bureau but I don't have anything to support that.
Alert: HF2167 – An Act Providing Buffer Strip Program and Funding
As you are all likely aware...
I pulled this from the ISC website:
FOURTH WEEK OF LEGISLATIVE SESSION
The fourth week of session was short but extremely busy. Between the House and Senate, there were more than 150 subcommittee meetings, in addition to regular policy and budget committee meetings. Work is ramping up as the...
I would say it's pretty clear that continuing to go around and around on this thread isn't going to be beneficial for anyone. Yes there has been some good discussion but we are 40 pages deep and haven't come up with anything new and probably haven't really changed anyone's mind from their...
Archery hunting. I personally have lost a lot of the desire to kill a buck with a gun anymore. It never will happen but I'd be fine if they said traditional archery only. I set my stands to give myself shots of 25 yards and under currently so moving that a touch closer would be good with me.
Bill and Jared are on my short list for sure. It is incredible what Jared is able to produce self filming and he is always on big deer year after year.
Ethan Stubbs and Grant Noble are two younger guys that worked directly under/with Jared when he was with Midwest Whitetail and you can tell in...
I don't have much experience with any invasives other than honeysuckle but that stuff is a nightmare. It takes over, chokes everything out, and I have seen deer numbers on the property decline due to it. Unless you cut trails in/through it, a person literally cant walk in there when it is leafed...
Are you just wanting to rant or are you open to hearing other's opinions and experiences?
I have not used a dog or drone to recover a deer but I believe they have a time and place and can be extremely valuable in recovering an animal. There are countless scenarios where guys would never have...
I believe I was 5 years old and I was with my Dad when he killed a doe during an urban bow hunt.
I'm pretty sure I was 6.5 when I killed my first squirrel. My Dad and grandpa were doing a late muzzy doe hunt and I brought the .22 with. Dad and I saaw a squirrel sitting on a branch about 6ft up...
I haven't worn Kenetrek or Irish Setters but I have owned a pair of Crispi's for about 6 years and really like them. The ones I have are more of a stiffer boot with a lot of support - more geared towards hunting in the mountains vs Iowa but they have been really good for me so far.
ISC did end up responding and I appreciated the lengthy response. Here is the sparknotes version:
Agreed that it would be nice to go back 20 years
Farm Bureau is tough to battle and is tough to get people to vote against them
Self regulation might be the best way - whether that is not using...
So if we have things that we would like changed, who are the best resources to contact? Specifically about trying to get cell cameras removed. The language about non resident shotgun hunters was 'cleaned up' last year. Does anyone know who to contact to get the use of electronic devices language...
Monday I had a mature 9 locked down with a doe. Had them both bedded within 30 yards, he walked off two bucks, and I couldn't get a shot. I was in the same general area yesterday and just saw two or three small bucks. Both days I sat until about 1:15.
Next week, especially Wednesday - Friday...
Celebrating a successful harvest (not mine), hunting in the same tree with my brother (haven't done that in probably 12 years), taking my two boys squirrel hunting, seeing 12 gobblers and 26 hens during one sit, and had a two hour encounter on Monday with a buck I'm targeting including him at 18...
Friday morning in big timber - a couple small bucks with one checking two different does
Friday evening - hunted ag fields and saw 6 bucks and a couple does - most of the bucks were feeding instead of checking the does/cruising.
Saturday evening - zero deer
Sunday evening - zero deer
